Last week I took a 1200 mile trip in my relatively new 2009 Prius. I wanted to know my average mpg for the entire trip so I did not reset the Consumption screen at each fill up. (BTW, I got just over 50 mpg for the entire trip. Mostly Interstate driving at 65 mph.)

I noticed that each time I filled up, the 'miles' indicator next the the average mpg figure reset to zero I didn't reset it I know. The average mpg did not reset. What would make the 'miles' reset happen? Is it normal?

    Thank you.

That's the way it works. When you add enough gas, it resets the miles. Mileage also resets on older Prius.

Yep, resets at ~3 gallons. Put less and you'll see it stays the same.
