I searched for hd but didn't get any results. I was wondering if the radio would receive HD channels?
No!!!...Well maybe, You would have to buy one and install it yerself, or have it installed! I am amending my answer...... I called Toyota, they did not have a clue, said they would call back with info later. Hey Prius Team, you out there, any input???
HD Radio would be a nice option for any car. Crystal clear sound, no static, no monthly fees. (I have an HD tuner connected to my home music system. Best technology advance in broadcast radio since FM.) Too bad the U.S. is so slow at adopting this "new" technology (it has been available in Europe for some time...) Keith
I was hopeful that the 2010 Prius would have an HD radio to take advantage of the HD stations, which we have been hearing about for the last couple of YEARS. But, more dead air on that subject. Hey Toyota; I would gladly pay for a factory HD radio to install in my 2007, anything else would be dead air from my check book. Is an HD radio really beyond their technical means?
is HD radio really necessary? I'd prefer to save money and listen to regular radio because I don't see a problem with it. It's not like it's always going to be soooo staticky that is just too unbearable. IDK! but whatever just my opinion
HD radio allows your favorite local station(s) to add a second or a third station with more and varied content for free. Many of these HD channels are already in place, but you can't hear them because you don't have a radio to do so in America.
With the way the new Prius is set up (the radio not having to be integrated in the mfd), I'm sure a third party company will release a hd radio for the prius. HD radio has been out for quite some time (bmw offers it for like 200 more than the standard radio). In the penny pinching economy, many people simply dont want another bill (sat. radio), but still want a more diverse selection that HD radio can offer.
