For years, Top Gear has gone out of its way to pillory the Prius including: Shooting it up with a high-powered rifle 17 MPG road race stunt Clarkson review So I was somewhat surprised to find that 'in print,' they can actually recognize the Prius has merit:Toyota Prius - Yes, they still have their share of 'back handed' complements, "Hateful lentil-fuelled transport for the insufferably self-righteous. ..." but when you look at the review, they got it right on "Running costs." The 2010 Prius review - A little light in the technical details, I don't think they've driven one, yet. Then there is this gem,"That new body shape is a bit prettier than the old one (really showed up Honda's dreary-looking Insight, don't you think?)" The insulting bits were probably donated by Clarkson and friends but someone with a cooler head fixed up enough that Toyota won't put an outright ban on loaning them one. Top Gear rated above average: Comfort Quality Practicality Running costs That they don't like it, "... we have no great desire to be thus intrigued." just has to do with difficulty adapting to a new world. Some do it easier than others. Bob Wilson
Top Gear is entertainment and should be taken as seriously as any sitcom or variety show. If you want journalism, watch CNN.
