Toyota's Prius Team has created an Easter Egg hunt of their own on PriusChat. In response to a thread theorizing that pricing would be announced at the New York Auto Show between April 10-19, Doug Coleman, Prius Product Manager for Toyota, replied: Close, but no cigar, guys. I will say one of the posters here nailed it on the head in another thread. You just need to figure out who. Doug Coleman Prius Product Manager Toyota Motor Sales, USA The prevailing thought is that john1701a is correct in hypothesizing that Toyota will announce pricing on Earth Day, April 22nd. It makes sense and still kinda baffles me that Honda would give up Earth Day as the launch date for the Insight, which was the original plan. Now Toyota gets the media coup by announcing pricing for the world's most fuel efficient car on Earth Day. So, who's waiting for April 22nd? And who thinks it will be another date?
It's either April 15th or April 22nd, but my first guess was the 15th so I'll stick with it. Either way, I was hoping we would have the cars on Earth day when I originally ordered last September... May will have to do Lol
sorry, but not much speculation here... any other day would not make any sense. Earth Day is simply right, elegant and appropriate.
Are you implying that Arbor Day isn't almost equally appropriate? Or maybe Administrative Professionals day? Oh wait, that's the same as Earth Day.... What about Tax Day, or Easter? Or my favorite, Eggs Benedict Day. Um, yeah, go look it up. In the end, you must realize the only right, elegant, and appropriate day is Cinco de Mayo! Anyway, who said anything about making sense? Not us :loco: Doug Coleman Prius Product Manager Toyota Motor Sales, USA
I also said the 15th and Toyota did say mid-April. Plus, the 15th is during the auto show and it would be nice to announce the price during the show. I only hope it's sooner then later.
OK. I'll go with Earth Day, April 22, 2009, so long as it is followed, one week later, on the Feast of St. Catherine of Siena, with the announcement of the introduction of the 2010 Sienna Hybrid. Makes sense, Non?
ah well, equality is a word oft used nearly as much as it is impossible to obtain. even our children we do not love exactly equally even though we be caught dead first before admitting that... now i could get a Pri because i want to save the world!! (ok, so i watch "Heroes") but i dont have that grand an ambition. i drive a Pri and an EV because they use less resources and i want to save some of those resources for my kids. i want them to live in a world that is not fraught with disease and new microbes that only flourish when the CO2 is at 1500 PPM or higher.
Doug ! Did you ever answer my question as to whether you will give us notice as to when the price would be announced or will you just announce the price ? If you are going to give us some kind of notice , I think a week would be nice. Since the 15th is my guess then the 8th which is today would be when you tell us that the 15th is the date! If the 22nd is the date, then the 15th will be when you tell us the 22nd is the date. Is this making any sense ? Or should I say CENTS ?
so I guess National Carbon Footprint Day is out of the question :fencing: Tag you're it..... what next National Pizza day... My real guess is Second day of the NYC Auto show.. but Earth day works better for me..
i think it will be announced on an upcoming episode of Living With Ed on Planet Green...... its the only real possibility.
Maybe you are right. This is what a Toyota-Dealer told via email: "Preise ab 25.500,-- (bei 2.000,-- serienmäßiger Mehrausstattung). Das Bestellsystem ist ab dem 20.04.2009 geöffnet, wobei sich die Auslieferung deutlich nach hinten verschieben wird. Erste Fahrzeuge kommen im Juli, Händlereindeckung im August und Auslieferung der ersten Kundenaufträge wird im September sein" Says: German Pricing would be exactly the same as for the 2009 Prius (base model, including taxes). Ordering system is said to be opened April 20th. I'm not sure if he really knows about the prices, but he booked us for April 21st to configure our Prius. Seems to be more than a guess.
I would think not on Earth Day. As a former national reporter for UPI, I think the announcement would get buried by the Earth Day news avalanche.
