Snow and average temperatures in the 30's have been a bitter reality throughout the month of March here in Minnesota... until this week. We are suppose to see daytime temperatures in the 50's finally. Yeah! 1,184 miles so far this month. And despite the far from ideal conditions, only 24.9 gallons were used. That calculates to 47.5 MPG. I can't wait to see what this warm weather brings.
I've only filled once so far this month, early on, so it was more like Feb. mileage. I'm on my 3rd consecutive tank that should be over the 50mpg mark!!! Right now, with about 350 miles on the trip odo, I'm showing 51.7mpg!! And that's after a couple little cold spells (30s & 40s--not cold spells ala John1701a). The days in the 70s are the ones that give ME goosebumps--I improved my mileage over 1 full mpg over a 25 mile round trip (both from cold starts) 200 miles into the tank one day. I just know I'm going to be pushing the 55mpg mark come spring/summer--at least until I have to use the A/C again. I'll post all my March numbers at the end of the month...Danny, I'm actually not quite sure what this thread is intended for. Tank by tank data entry, monthly data, last months data? IOW, it would seem more useful to me to, on the first day of the month, to post a sticky like this that asks for the prior months mileage data..... For example: On April 1st make a sticky post: "Post your March Mileage Data Here" followed by Total Miles: Region/location: Est. Daily temp: Calculated MPG for March: Then folks could go back and look at monthly archives and see what others historically got for the entire month based on temps and regional variations. If your intent was otherwise, I apologize, I just don't understand it exactly.
I think for some people it'll be easier to come in and post it as they go through each tank instead of having to keep track throughout the month. I really don't care how it's done, and I think that we should do it however it would be best for everyone. If that way is best, that's fine. Or we could include a monthly round-up included on the first tank of gas for the next month (ie put March's overall #s with the data for the first tank of gas in April). Whatever works best for the group.
> (30s & 40s--not cold spells ala John1701a). Actually, the average was LOW 30's. There were a few days with temps in the teens. And on one commute, it was only 10F. Eek!
The weather is getting warmer, and my Prius is getting better mileage. This shot was taken after a highway trip...
The temps are finally on the rise in Indianapolis. And, the MPG is going up as well! Yes, I too am lovin' this car. Nice ride indeed!

Trip from the dealer in Moses Lake back home to Vancouver WA. Mostly freeway driving: Tank miles: 297 Overall Miles: 447 Avg Tank Mileage: 40.8 mpg Avg Overall Mileage: 44 Avg Temperature: 55 I've only filled up once so far, and I was a bit cautious after all the posts about short fills and air bladders, but I didn't have any problems, just filled it slowly. I had 3 of 10 bars showing before the fill, and it took almost 8 gallons. $13.50 to fill up at $1.699 per gallon here in Vancouver, WA! So, is there a life-to-date MPG hidden in the Prius' computer somewhere? Or do you have to log gallons the old-fashioned way with a log book? Jay
I know I don't have a prius but I should be a poster boy as to why everyone should own one My non prius car got this at last fill up 305.6 mi/13.136 gal 23.6 mi/gal This is the best milage my non prius has ever gotten, that 1000 dollars I put in it may have helped

March 19 to April 2 Tank Miles 337 Overall Miles 2119 Avg Tank Mileage 47.3 Avg Overall Mileage 44.8 Avg Temp 65 with a heat wave of 80 for three days An observation ... as the temperatures increased during our little heatwave, I noticed those days netted much better mileage - about 1% per 2 degrees. (So when it went from 65 degrees in the evening to 85, my mileage went from 44 to a little over 48 for the exact same drive.)
