Finally got the 2009 Prius

Uh Oh. "Again," you say? Do you have a buying compulsion that has gotten you in trouble before, or are you just speaking a bit of hyperbole?

"The car" does drive "clean" under any conditions -- when compared to any other vehicle with an internal combustion engine. As for the rest of the statement . . . it sounds like you have buyer's remorse after plunking down big bucks for the most beautiful and elegant ball gown you've ever seen. And then you wonder whether you will get the invitation to the ball as you thought it had been promised.

I can't quite help on this one. Please tell me you can make the monthly payment without incurring additional debt.

Don't forget that you can cancel the extended warranty. If you do it soon enough, you will get all of your money back (save a fairly small documentation fee). You have up to 3 years or 36,000 miles within which to buy that extended warranty, so cancelling now does not put it out of reach.

You get a great ride, filled with techno marvels. AND, you save a lot of money on gasoline! Plus, you own the car with some of the highest scores in customer satisfaction and the lowest costs in terms of repair.

Hmm. This sounds like you may have over-extended yourself. I warn you that selling the car now is a bit like selling your stock after taking the big loss. You just compound your problems. Still, if you cannot make the payments, then you'd better get rid of the car soon, so you don't lose out by making several of the payments and then selling the car for less money then, as compared to now.

I can't give much more advice without knowing your particulars (and PLEASE don't give those in a public forum!), but I'm certain there are trust-worthy family and friends who would help you sort this out.

 

There are two parts to this question. The first has to do with price. If you follow the links available on the home page (and many other pages) of PriusChat, you'll find that you can get the same exact Platinum Package extended warranty for $990 (7 year/100,000 mile warranty). The second part is whether it is worthwhile (particularly for the electrical system). Please understand that much (not all) of the electrical system is covered to 100,000 miles under the original warranty. This really has to do with the battery and the electric propulsion system, but that is where the significant costs come in.

You will find many threads on the subject. I suggest you read a few and then decide for yourself. Please read your contract carefully, as well as the extended warranty papers, to see by what date and what form the notice of cancellation must take place. If you want the extended warranty, then buy it for a much better price through PriusChat.

 

The car payment might feel high but your gas bill will go down. You might also be able to save some money on your insurance too, depending on what kind of car you had before. I switched to GEICO after I bought my Prius and saved almost $100 every six months.

It might be worth it to try a few companies to see if you can save some money there too. Every little bit helps.
