I am thinking about ordering the heavy duty rubber mats sold through a Toyota dealership. Are they any good? Thanks
They are good. I personally think the Weathertech Extreme mats are better, but it all comes down to personal preference (and price). The PriusChat Shop offers both of them: PriusChat Shop : Toyota Prius OEM All Weather Floor Mats - $87.00 PriusChat Shop : WeatherTech Toyota Prius Extreme-Duty Floor Liners [440851] - $0.00
I have the OEM mats and they are good quality and fit like a glove. I returned the Weathertech mats since I wanted a better fit. I do have the Weathertech hatch area mat and that is custom fit so it fits perfectly.
I have a set of the Toyota mats and am very happy with them. They fit perfectly, and their deep waffle-pattern holds lots of melted snow.
I bought my OEM all-weather mats from the Prius Chat store and love them. Even in San Diego, they have saved my floors from the occasional rainy weather.
I think these are terrific. Heavy duty rubber mats. Look around for best prices. I found these for $69.95. Toyota Parts and Accessories Store
I got the Toyota-branded all-weather rubber floor mats via the Priuschat store. Seeing all of the dirt, mud, sand, and other stuff in the (very deep) grooves of the mats, I highly recommend them. The original carpet mats would have fared poorly given the conditions.
I also bought the Toyota heavy rubber mats, directly from the dealership when I picked up the new car in my case. I have to say these mats fit like a glove, and the "Prius" logo is white on the black mats, and looks very good. The driver mat came with spare carpet hooks; the drivers mat also has the proper holes for these, so that the mat will not slip forward at all. All in all, they are among the best that I've ever seen, and cosmetically they compliment the Prius perfectly. As the dealer did not have a Toyota cargo liner, I too bought the WeatherTec cargo liner for the Prius. The carpet liner that came with the car was good, but we wanted something better. The WeatherTec cargo liner also fits like a glove. But it is not the same heavy material as the Toyota OEM mats. It's much thinner than the rubber floor mats. It looks durable enough, but it is definitely a different type of material. The lips on the side are maybe an inch or more high, and will keep liquids from running off.
Here's a Toyota dealer source for the mats, priced at $69.60 plus shipping. If you also buy some engine and cabin air filters at the same time you can leverage the shipping charge. Champion ToyotaWorld I have the mats on my 2004, and the dark color matches the dark door panels and instrument panels quite well. They are easy to hose off when they get dirty.
