Perhaps this is old news, and perhaps it's only relevant to Europe, but I was pleased to see that the toyota-mapupdates.eu site now reads: Operate while driving GOOD NEWS! NO MORE FROZEN SCREENS! With your new map-update DVDs (PZ485-X03EU-08 & PZ485-X03RU-08), you will have not just expanded coverage but also an extra function allowing you to operate the navigation while driving*. Has anyone tried this update and can confirm that it works OK? Does it affect the phone as well?
In my USA version 2008, when the car is moving the only ability to input destinations is "Emergency," hospitals and the like. All other options are blacked out.
So if it turns out that it does work (for Europe), are we going to start seeing hybrid nav discs with the european loading.kwi?
