i did the exact same thing with my 2004... but i fixed it, i had some lady hit me. they totaled my Pri, gave me enough to buy a 2006 and cost me after taxes, licensing, etc... $1100 out of pocket. throw in the fact i bought it 14 days before the end of the 100% tax credit, and the actual out of pocket was even less
I didn't want SKS. But I wanted the safety features (VSC and side air bags) so I was stuck with SKS. The first time I came out of the grocery store with both hands loaded with grocery bags I was delighted my car had SKS, and I have never looked back. I wish my Xebra had it.
Fear of Big Brother (justified or not) will hinder some high tech uses that would otherwise be quite useful: embedded chip as a key and a credit card, medical info on our drivers licence, national ID card (chip).
Me, too! I just about broke off all my fingernails trying to open the door, thinking it would unlock. Unfortunately, I didn't have the fob in my pocket at the time. I think it's a good safety feature, especially for us womenfolk going out to a car at night. Those Lincoln MKS commecials make me laugh--like their system is new! Prius Prime
Not sure I want my car hit with me in it but during high wind and rain storms, I park my car under tall trees........
First time I left the car at the dealer for routine maintenance, I pulled the fob out of my pocket and gave it to them. When I came back to pick up the car, they brought the car out and opened the door to let me in, like a nice valet would. Off I went without thinking. When I got back to the office I promptly turned off the car, walked out then realized they never handed me my fob back!!! Talk about a major "Oh, sh!t" moment...
My wife hates keys since we've had the Prius. She has her keys buried down at the bottom of her purse and whenever she has to get them she complains. When she drives the Lexus for something she makes me give her my keys so she doesn't have to dig for hers. We have push button combo locks on the doors...its a mess I will admit, I love the SKS too. I wouldn't buy another car without it. If I've driven the Prius on a trip or something it takes me a while to get used to having keys again when I drive the Lexus, and I'm guilty of turning it off without putting it in park too...
Forgot to post the postlude to my story. So after a few moments of real panic, it suddenly occurred to me to look for the fob in its most obvious place, and sure enough it was there: right in the fob slot!! Disaster averted!
Yep. My dealer always puts the fob in the slot. They never use the SKS feature. Maybe it's so I won't drive off without the fob.
Yup, SKS is really a bad thing..... You forget that you need to unlock doors, take the key out of the ignaition and those times when you remember, you put the keys down and don't remember where. At work we have 5 cars/vans for on cqll use and so far i have managed to leave the car on 3 times as I forgot that there is no on/off switch and the button like thing is to lock the doors! Leave the key in the car (after turning off) too many times to count, I'm always forgetting to unlock the doors (although they are usually left open in the private car park) and worst of all I have managed to loose the keys 3 times - Yup managed to put them down, while working, collect everything else and then leave the flaming key behind. Usually this is'nt too bad, as I tnd to leave the keys on top of the equipment, but I managed to leave them in a completely different building, and spent the best part of an hour looking for them last week...... Wish that all cars had SKS, would be so much simpler.
