    Jason,

I see nothing inconsistent with encouraging others to right-size their ride, be it fuel-efficient gasser, any type of hybrid, and lightening up on the right foot. Even walking or biking when practical.

While you have been less involved at GH, your nickname is still in the Admin green and had some clout....I've said enough. The degree you remember things with one of the most visible GH members might reflect your commitment to the community as other posters hinted....hope that will change.

If places were switched, you would be smarting too, Jason (if you were unwelcomed and on a ban watch) - denial is even worse than a non-apology (on your relationship with me in particular since 2006).

Everyone else, anything else I say is more of the same - just keep this thread in mind. Putting down more of my grief with GH is inappropriate on a number of levels. As a moderator, I'm mindful of not adding more work for Evan.

Msantos, thanks for your respectful inquiry. I hope that a well-formed response and action plan will calm any of your concerns.

Infighting is most definitely toxic to small communities such as the hybrid movement, all the more exacerbated by the relative anonymity of the Internet. I'd like to promote a unified front to tackle economic and environmental threats brought on by many of today's irresponsible transportation methods.

In response to your first question: Alienation often occurs when an advocacy is not provided an adequate forum (pardon the pun) to express its views. I may have handled matters inappropriately years ago by establishing GreenHybrid as a site to promote hybrid cars specifically and not green driving in general. Thus, I viewed certain conversations such as "ecodriving" and "hypermiling" as out of the realm of GreenHybrid's advocacy.

You will note that myHybridcar.com's ideology is completely the opposite. The homepage states "Here you’ll find the most relevant, need-to-know news about green driving and a battery of other forward-thinking citizens." The about page states "[This site's] goal is to connect, inform, and empower citizens interested in green transportation and sustainable living." myHybridcar.com is about hybrid cars, but it's also about driving better, and strategies such as the ones you've long supported will be backed by the new community. And as I've already stated in this thread, I'd be happy to entertain suggestions such as creating additional subforums to aid the discussion of creative topics such as hypermiling. (A Green Living forum is already available.)

In response to your second question: I've already touched on some of this above, but honey is absolutely the way forward and unity is undoubtedly the answer. Consumers in the US got a taste for what the world is like with high gas prices a year or two ago, and now that prices are back down they have not forgotten. Hybrid cars and green driving are here to stay, and now is the time for online communities such as PriusChat and the new myHybridcar.com to show those in the market that the future is brighter.

My ears are open for suggestions and comments, and I look forward to any insight you can provide to get the newest general hybrid site on its feet. This isn't about me, about you, or about any particular person or product. myHybridcar.com is about a vision and hope you'll join me in seeing it.

Delta, I agree about alternative transportation options. In fact, I just bought a Redline 925 bicycle and absolutely love it.

I apparently have administrator privileges at GreenHybrid because Internet Brands has not taken the one minute to demote me. This is not my fault and I do not act in any administrative capacity. Your attack here is unjustified.

Perhaps you do not know what it's like to manage a community of thousands of members, Delta, but it's extremely difficult remembering the entire history of every engagement with every member—even the prominent ones. I think you're being unnecessarily insulting—especially about something which you have no first-hand knowledge.

I also did not deny anything. In fact, I apologized for the situation which has arisen and did not refute your assertions about GreenHybrid. Instead, I offered a way forward and you chose to attack me.

I think I'm being very reasonable and fair. Unfortunately I can't say the same about you.

    Jason,

As a moderator of three years, I don't remember everything either, but I remember the major disruptions - factual stuff like I mentioned.

And I definitely know running a forum is not easy.

I encourage you to commit on your pledge to welcome hypermilers and ecodrivers at your new forum.

If you took a moment to remove from tbaleno's sig his dig on me with the Admin authority you still have, that would definitely validate the initial good will expressed towards me....since you have not done so, I can't take your positive overatures seriously.

Again, I'd like to move on.

    Jason, my name is Chuck.

I'm a GreenHybrid member but have only used the MPG database. I wanted to help in the gathering of real world fuel economy data. I also like the little MPG feature that pops up in my signature.

After reading this thread I popped over to GreenHybrid.com and checked it out. I'm not sure how the site is a sinking ship. The database is still there and they had a couple of interesting articles. From the discussion above I'll have to assume the conflict involves the forums which I never used. (I spend too much time on PriusChat already, I don't need another forum)

    Jason,
I'm not sure what you expected. It seems that you built up GreenHybrids with the help of enthusiastic volunteers then sold it out from under them. You come to PriusChat to attack your old site and trying to poach membership for a new site that appears to be a mirror image of GreenHybrids. Did you really expect them to be excited about repeating your profit cycle?

If I was to use any other fuel economy database it would the the EPA's at fueleconomy.gov. I don't see much chance of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory selling their database for personal profit.
