I've only had my car for a couple of months AFAIK, there's been no TSB's relative to it. Does Toyota mail these out to owners, or does one have to be pro-active to find out about them? If the latter, I'm sure they'll be posted here but is there a place where these are posted? Probably Toyota.com or something? Thanx,
They certainly don't mail them out. I don't even think they'll do the fix when you take your car in unless you've had the problem in question.
TSBs come in a few varieties. Some are sort of 'for mechanics only' where they give a heads up of sorts...if a customer comes in with problem A apply this solution. The other TSB are more of the 'recall' variety. More universal issues that need to be fixed on every car...they do mail those out to every customer.
TSB's will soon be a download-able feature for PriusChat sponsors (such as yourself, Bob), so that way you'll be able to keep up with the latest TSBs and "recall campaigns."
Howdy, I have never received any correspondence from Toyota relating to my Prius. I think that this is because I refused to answer their “new owner†questionnaire. Toyota’s polling firm sent me the form five or six times (sometimes with a dollar enclosed just to make me feel guilty!). When the questionnaires finally stopped arriving at my house, I suspect that they removed me from the customer mailing list. The reason I choose not to participate in the study is because I have had nothing but trouble with Toyota/Lexus dealers and Toyota Corporation has never provided any support to me… I've been driving around since Feb. 17th with a half assembled back seat waiting for a call from the dealer telling that they have the parts. They tell me it's normal for the body panels rub, they have never followed up when promised, it just never stops... The hell with ‘em! I drive their cars but have no loyalty for Toyota.
