Bienvenue à PriusChat! Wow Patrick, ask and ye shall receive! We're getting more international members! awaremannn, I hope that the Prius does well in France for the upcoming year. I find it odd that they think it's underpowered when there are plenty of 50-60mpg US diesel cars that are much much slower than the Prius!
merci à toi I think US diesel, and US motors in general, are not really competitive, and that explains a part of financial problems of US companies right now. So, for US, Prius has a very good motor. But compare to some of its european concurrents, a prius use more fuel on highways for example (the speed limit is 130 km/h in France on highways, 150 km/h in Italy, and in Germany some highways have no speed limit, useful for bmw or mercedes ). Prius generates less pollution, but a lot of people don't care about that. But compare to diesel, Prius is much more fuel-efficient in cities, so city men and women are interested in prius, but a lot of french people prefer to use a little car in city, because it's easier to park, and less expansive. But I hope prius 3 will be much more efficient on highways because motor is oversized, so it will be more popular. In fact the real problem of prius 3 in France could be its price, I heard about 30000 euros for the cheapest package
That is true though. It does present a conundrum in Europe. It's good in the city but then cities require smaller cars and the smaller the better (smart fortwo anyone?) because parking is a problem. Here the highest speed limit is 70mph (I'm not sure if there are a few 75mph highways or not). In Canada, it's 110km/h but only one the straightest of highways, otherwise it's usually 100km/h.
You have taken the only Eu country with a weak currency. In countries with the Euro, the prius comes around €26000 base average http://www.toyota.ie/models/prius/ starting from €27145 Prius Starting from €25950 Toyota Motor Italia/Gamma - Prius Starting from €26200 Toyota Prius Preisliste. Die Zukunft atmet auf. Starting from €25550 Shock of all: Personbiler Prisliste 385188 DKK equivalent to 65 292.80 US$!
The Italian government gives you €5000 if you give in a more-than-10-year-old car. That price is distorted.
The 150 km/h limit is valid only on three lane motorways with a hard shoulder, provided the owner of the motorway approves the increase. Today, noone has done it therefore the 150 km/h limit is not effective.
Thanks, that is a great page to find worldwide unit shipments! It is fascinating to see Prius unit sales by continent. I had not realized that North America accounted for 57% of total Prius sales. It's also very interesting to see Prius sales by European country.
yep, very interesting... 57% in North America, and only 10 or 11% in Europe if you compare to countries population, sales in Sweden or Nederland are really good
Salesfigures in Nederland / The Netherlands will increase dramatically over 08/09. People who have a business car pay a lot less taxes over it when it's eco-friendly. This was the reason I started driving Prius. The kind of green I had in mind had nothing to do with eco . I was not a fan, to put it mildly. Now I'm still not crazy about the design of the current model but I am very positive about the driving experience. And I am really looking forward to my Pearl White 2010, standard HUD included.
Greetings from Sweden! I have been lurking around this forum for a while, ever since first deciding to replace my current (non-hybrid) SUV for a more environment-friendly alternative. Initially I was thinking of getting a 2009 gen-2 Prius, but having seen the pictures of the upcoming 2010, I decided that for me it might very well be worth the wait. Here in Sweden, very little information has been officially released about the 2010. The Toyota dealers I have spoken to either have no information (one of them actually recommended me to Google for info), or have sworn a sacred oath not to reveal anything about prices or available packages until the current stock of 2009's have been sufficiently deplenished. The only information I have been able to get is that the 2010 will be more highly priced than the 2009, given the roughly equivalent equipment. How much more, is obviously a well-kept secret. Nothing about packages is given, so it's all left for speculation. My ideal setup would be a package with park assist, backup camera, 17-inch wheels, navigator, HUD, rain sensors, autodimming mirror, electric folding mirrors, smart key system, LED headlights and sunroof. No leather seats though - they're too cold in Sweden during the winter months. No need for radar cruise control either, as the roads are too narrow and too dirty, and the traffic rhythm is probably too erratic for the radar CC to function properly anyway. I suppose not all of these options will be possible to combine; I have read about the sunroof and 17-inch wheels being mutually exclusive, although I have seen photos of 2010's with both these features, so I suppose this combination is not something that will cause a black hole to appear at the Toyota manufacturing plant and devour the galaxy... Oh, and of course, if the price level for this is faaaar above the 37.000 USD level, I might as well forget about it (that's what a 2009 costs here). //Tom
I'd just wait and see, you might be surprised at the price, then again you might not. I'd tell you the price but then I'd have to kill you and chop you into tiny pieces. Oops, too much detail. Actually I have no idea about the price.
It frightens me when I understand posts like this...and they sort of make sense to me. I think I need a holiday.:hat::focus:
actually, there might be an package that you might like.... check dutch packages... i think leather and advance precrash/cruise control are packaged together.
Spanish verions revealed! Unfortunately not a word about pricing... There will be 3 versions. Eco, Advance and Executive. Advance is the "medium" version, with Eco having less standard equipment and executive more. Two optional packs for advance (Navi and Solar) and three for Executive (Navi, Solar and Safety). As with all the versions, Solar roof means 15" mandatory. Here it is the translation: Advance Heads Up Display (HUD) Leather steering wheel with telescòpic + TouchTracer 7 airbags, active headrests 17” alloys (215/45R17) RadioCD MP3 + 8 speakers + Bluetooth Rain sensor Electric Lumbar adjustment Automatic climate control Keyless unlocking and starting VSC+ Cruise Control Packs Advance Pack Navi HDD based navigator + reverse camera + IPA Pack Solar: Moon roof (15” wheels mandatory) (I guess with solar panel) Eco Like Advance but: 15” alloys (195/65R15) 6 speakers without Bluetooth Without cruise control nor rain sensor Keyless unlocking and starting “cond.” (I don’t understand this, i guess its driver's door only) Non leather Steering wheel (I don’t understand this) Executive Like Advance but adding: Leather interior + heated seats LED headlamps Light sensor and autodimming mirror 6 CDs charger + USB/iPod connector Water repellent front side glass Integrated alarm Packs Executive: Pack Navi HDD based navigator + reverse camera + IPA Pack Safety Adaptive Cruise Control and pre-crash system Pack Solar: Moon roof (15” wheels mandatory) (I guess with solar panel) My personal wish (dream): Executive + Navi + Safety + Solar My budget: Eco Thanks to priusverde from www.mitoyotaprius.es for the picture! Well, I ment that I can't read it well on the picture. But yes, I guess it will be "non-leather steering wheel"
