Does anyone know where I can find a list of the audio commands I can use with my package 9 '04 Salsa Pearl? There must be dozens of commands I can use and don't know about yet. For example I recited, "Change Disk" and wow! The disk changed. I then said, "Next Track" and the player went to the next track. I can't get the radio to change stations at my oral request, but I'm sure if I knew the proper command I could. Perhaps there is a list somewhere. Does anyone know? Whatshisname. :p

Once again, we refer to John's site. Go to here: http://john1701a.com/index.html and go to the left and you will see "Prius Info" click on that. Then it will drop down, the second down called "User-Guide N" click on that. Then you will see the table of contents, below that it shows the different formats.

Does the voice command system need to be "trained" or can it be "trained" to your voice at all?

No and No. It does a fair job of recognizing most normal speach and accents.

You can be trained. Do not raise your voice. Mike is in overhead console with map lights, aim there. She does not read words but speech patterns. When you get (frequently hilarious) wrong responses, just try again with different modulation. She frequently gives you choices of her preferred vocalisations. Do it *her* way. Yes, I've been able to elicit almost every possible response to the command "Warmer" EXCEPT turning up the heat! The kids find it very entertaining to try to guess what that crazy lady will do next...

One suggestion someone made before was not to enunciate the command, but rather just say it like you normally would to a person.

Perhaps a passenger should give one of the commands and see what happens. Whatshisname

Are you speaking in English? Just kidding!!

Are the commands being recieved but the wrong ones being done, or is it asking you to repeat the command, or do you get no recognition at all?

I find that pretty odd though. Most of the commands are readily understood. Some intermittently, and some only occasionally. Which ones have you tried. Are you trying to use NAV commands when you're not on the MAP screen? (It won't work if your not). Are you waiting for the 'beep' after you hit the voice button. Is your head directly forward or slightly upward directed? Are you speaking in a slightly louder than normal voice but with normal speach patterns--you should be.

Try some basic ones that work for me 95%+ of the time:
    "Temperture Seventy-two degrees"

    "Radio Off"

    on MAP screen
    "I'm Hungry"

    "Fast Food"

If those really won't work then have someone else try them...if it won't work for them then I suggest you have the system checked out.

I think a lot of people report varying degrees of success with the voice system. I find that I rarely use it anyway except for temperture setting and on the Map/Nav screens it's easier to use/access the POI and Nav resume/suspend commands. But, you're the first person who I've heard say they've never been able to get it to work even once. It really makes me concerned there's a problem unless you're doing something dramatically wrong (like not pushing the button first or something like that).

There's a noticeable delay after pressing the "talk" button before you hear the beep to start talking. If you start talking right after you push the button, the car will miss what you've said completely.
