I just got my 2005 Prius with pkg. 6. I am locked into my Sprint contract for another year and do not have a bluetooth phone. Sprint currently offers only 2 bluetooth phones (Sprint discontinued the Sony Ericcson T608): PM-325 by LG $219.99 Treo 650 by PalmOne $419.99 Has anyone had success getting either of these Sprint phones to work with the 2005 Prius? Thanks for any info!
I have the PM-325 and have successfully paired it with the Prius. There are several compatibility issues, though:
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(IsrAmeriPrius\";p=\"82232)</div> I find that incoming calls DO ring on the car's audio system with my pm-325. If I place or answer a call using the handset the call is not automatically picked up by the car audio. It must be transfered using the handset menu for the car audio to work.
My wife has a Treo 650 which works fairly well with CarMyne. The primary problem is that an ongoing call will drop when the Sprint call waiting feature is implemented. You can disable call waiting on outgoing calls to avoid the problem. Also, the signal strength does not show on the MFD. Try searching on bluetooth or phones and you can find several comments on the various phones. Also, I believe you can still get the T608 from third party suppliers.
Having Sprint, you can sign up for Voice Command(sm), put *1 in one of the 1-Touch slots, and make outgoing calls using one touch of the steering wheel button and one touch of the MFD. Here's the URL for anyone who isn't familiar with Sprint Voice Command. http://www1.sprintpcs.com/explore/ueConten...pcsVoiceCommand I think with our plan it costs $5/month extra for the service - well worth it to me to be able to edit my phone book on-line and just speak the commands. It makes the Prius Bluetooth system even cooler than having the MFD directory. I'd like to find a way to have the Prius dial the 1st 1-Touch entry automatically, like maybe 'press-and-hold' the off-hook button.
I cannot give you the list of models of the top of my head. However, all the phones which have the ability to transfer the contact list to the car's phone book have OBEX protocols. Sprint is aware of the problem and a future firmware update (now done over the air) should fix this issue. The big question is when. The latest firmware update (v18), released last week, still has not added the requisite protocols.
The Sprint PPC 6600/6601 also works fine with the Prius. However, although the phone has OBEX it does not transfer the number correctly to the Prius. All you get is the name, no phone number, no error message on the phone or the Prius. It have taken to using the iPAQ 2200 to enter contact names and phone number and tranfer them to the Prius. I believe other OBEX devices would work also, just not the PPC6600/6601.
its interesting that Sprint says it will allow OBEX but verizon wont. verizon says it can introduce viruses to their network. Cingular has already had an incident where a virus was transfered via BT at one of their stores. apparently someone did it as a prank (or test) at a store in LA
I understand that the lg 325 still has problems. is there a better alternative for those of us on sprint? did the original problems with the sony ericsson 608 get resolved? if so, is this model available on ebay or anywhere else? i look forward to your responses. thank you.

Sprint - Bluetooth problem: Could not get a compatible cell phone with Sprint.. I called Sprint Sales and told them I wanted a t608 (Sony Ericsson) or I will have to go to Cingular for my cell service. A Brand new unit arrived 2 days later. $199.00 (less $150, if you re-up contract for 2 years, which I did). It works fine, but display screen is hard to read. Battery life while in the blue tooth mode is short...Loaded up the phone book and one touch dialing and happy with it. Note: On one touch dialing, box 6 (outgoing calls) cannot be edited as it is hardwired for the last phone call you make.
