I'm looking for Toyota's instructions to dealerships on installing the OEM iPod interface. The attached PDF is an example of these instructions for a Corolla. I found them (among others) here.

    Anyone have a copy?

Whoa! That looks way more complicated than it needs to be. If I were you, I would follow the instructions in the guide ualdriver prepared for the Dice unit. I followed his great instructions last weekend and it only took me half an hour. Study the pdf a couple times first before you get in the car -- visualize what you are about to do -- it helps!

Search " DICE Silverline Install- illustrated guide"

I'd give you a direct link, but since this is my first post, the board won't let me.

Oh, and, if you're reading this thanks, ualdriver for the info!!!

PS for taking off the vent cover, I recommend a cheap plastic putty knife.
It doesn't mess up the plastic like a metal screwdriver would. Also consider sawing
off the handle so you can get around in tight paces a little easier.

Toyota interface or aftermarket DICE? Any thoughts?

    Nice, found it here.

ualdriver makes some comments on the DICE unit and its operation. I chose the Toyota OEM unit for simpler MFD and steering wheel operation, and, as a mechanical engineer, I shy away from 3rd party products when there is an OEM product available.

i want to install the OEM based on the dice silverline install guide a user made. going off the OEM install guide, there is an extra cable the dice does not have...at step 4. Connect the AVC-LAN Cable to the Head
Unit. it talks about if there is a 12 pin cable prewired you need to reroute it through the AVC-LAN cable and such. anybody know the wiring differences between the two installs?

I also tend to prefer OEM when possible. I have not found any reviews on this Interface kit so when you have it installed I would love to hear your thoughts. I am curious if the Dice or Vais kit do something that the OEM will not. Also, did you buy it online or at the dealer? I have been trying to find discount Toyota parts online (wheel locks) and have not found anything.

    Thx

I just bought an 09 Prius yesterday, and it had the iPod adapter installed. Works fine with my iPhone (the phone complains, but still works). However, I do not like having to open the glove box to connect the phone. I've only had the car for a day, but already a couple times I have forgotten the phone in the car.

I figure I'll reroute the cable to the cubby under the radio unit. The instructions posted should definitely help!

How do you access the iPod from the stereo controls? I was in a 2010 Prius the other day, and it's stereo had a "AUX" button and and "AUX" jack in the center armrest, but my 2008 Prius has neither of these. I'd love to be able to install the OEM iPod connector, but would I have to get a different stereo head unit to be able to select the iPod, let alone connect it?

Does anyone no where to find instructions to install the iPod interface in the 2010 Prius? My cab is very much different than the 2008 shown in this manual.

    Thanks, David

The OEM Ipod Connector needs a radio that has a Sat connection in the back of it. If you have that you can select the Ipod from same place where you change to a CD or Sat radio.
