I've recently bought a 2009 Prius and I've noted that when I lock it using the the remote key fob, it doesn't make any noise/sound/honk. At my first service, I asked the technician to restore this function, but I was told basic models like mine come without this feature. It's hard to believe. Can anyone who owns a 2009 Prius confirm this? Thanks.
The base model does not beep. Higher models issue a soft beep when locking. None of them honk (thankfully). Tom
I don't have a base model, so I can't test it personally, but that information has been published more than once. Tom
What about your headlight? Does it flash when you lock it? Mine do. I preferred the lights than any beeps or horns because I'm deaf.
