So I'm limited to packages no frills base packages if I don't want dead cow skin? I'm am very disappointed that Toyota is not offering a a leather-free "fully loaded" Prius the way it has done for the for all the previous years. :(

Is there anyone I can call or write to at Toyota so that voice my concerns?

I glad I'm not the only one that has a problem with this. And to think that just a couple of years ago, PeTA was going to give Toyota and award for making such an ethical car (leather-free, easier on the environment etc... ).

I was serious when I said they need to make a vegan model or organic trim option. I think this is one car where that would sell but it would do nothing to squash the tofu eating tree hugger myth.

Thanks for the info! I really appreciate that. Now I can look at some options to replace those 15"ers.

I agree. I'm decided on the Silver/III Package and I can't get over the fact that I only will get a driver-door SKS capability. I hope there might be a little intervention before I get my copy and I somehow end up with the 3-door version. One could hope....

Where are these kids' parents? I don't really care... I don't feel like having blood on MY hands even if the are other negligent parents involved. Over 100 deaths per year in the US alone because of this..... And what is the solution? Backup camera's.

I don't particulary care how the Prius stacks against other cars, but knowing that my 2006 Prius has a safety feature that the 2010 won't have (unless you go way up in Price) is a bit ridiculous. It's not "moving forward" but instead moving backwards....

It is a little hard to see out the back..... how many times have I seen kids run ahead while looking back at thier parents to see how far they can get!
Also good for not backing over little boys bikes they left behind the car!

I lose this argument because I refuse to be drawn into the emotional side of it.
Do you have any stats about the number of kids run over by SUVs when reversing as opposed to normal cars?
As your inserted image says, taller vehicles have a large blind-spot, I don't think the Prius is classed as a tall vehicle. Due diligence will do the job, you can't outlaw slack driving habits.
How about a Fresnel lens on the rear window?

    HEy Everyone,

I agree with your comments that the Backup Camera should be on all models for safety.

However as I am driving a 2009 Prius with NO Fog Lights, I have vote stronger for the Fog Lights and Upgraded headlights which now only come with Pri5 Top of The Line

This is a huge mistake as the majority of us are driving in the burbs where it is dark at night and my 2009 with NO Fogs is terrible on enhancing vision for Curbs etc and the headlights are really weak so rather than prioritizing rear backup which we do 3% of the time when parking at slow speeds, can we prioritize Full Strength Head Lights and Fogs as an Option for All models for the sake of Safety ?

Please suggest to me the Rolls Royce of Aftermarket Fog Light Kits I can put on a Base 2010 as I can not live without the Fogs from Day One as I am not confident Toyota will flex on this issue

    Thanks

Fog lights really shouldn't be used this way and reserved for bad weather only.

Some authorities state that it actually makes your distance vision worse because your pupils contract to accommodate the additional near-field light.

Don't use fog lights unless it's foggy.

I have a Mini Cooper convertible which is impossible to see out the back. It does have some sort of radar which beeps as you get close to an object. It actually works pretty good. I do believe there are aftermarket ones you can purchase if you feel the safety need.:)

Additionally, in fair weather, the added lights cause additional glare and distractions to oncoming traffic. I see all too many people turn on their fog lamps unnecessarily.

It must be tough for the Toyota planning team as you can't please all the people all the time (as the saying goes). I imagine our feedback is helping Toyota even now formulate package and option changes.

I am lamenting most the lack of plug-in. For me, I could do a Hymotion plug-in modification for less than it will cost me to trade for a 2010. This is a temptation for me! I could have what I really want with a car I already LOVE and the features I am happy with, plus the achievement of the "Gold Standard" for Hybrid geeks!

Am I wrong in this thinking?

If you have low miles, I think thats a very viable consideration... but if your throwing 10K at a car with 100Kmiles already on it.. maybe not.

My problem is I love bright lights too.. but many fog lights are not adjusted properly... so when you have someone coming at you and thier headlights are on low, it doesn't really matter, because thier fog lights are on high blinding you.

Please bring back Tideland Pearl! It's such a beautiful color and with all the options owners of Prius' can now have, more colors should be one of those. I know it's too late for '10, but not for '11!

Thanks for the info on the packages, too.
