Newbie here, hoping for the wisdom of the ancients: My wife and I love Prius's and will buy one in the next 7 months. The question is how much to offer on the following: Used 2008 Touring, Package 6. 17K miles. In good shape (actually might be called very good shape - just a few paint chips on the front hood). Silver Pine Mica, which is the color we want. What's a good offer? I see 2009 (non touring) #6 Prius's for around 27K out the door. And I figure with the new Honda and the new generation Prius coming out prices will slide still further. So when Edmunds says the true market value of this used car is around 23K I sort of figure that those Edmunds prices don't yet reflect the current economy, or the new hybrids coming down the road. Any help would be greatly appreciated. (We live in Iowa, in case that info is useful.)
I would say $21/22K. Based on what I paid for a 2008 #6 in Oct with 4,000 miles and the changes in the market since then... Bob
Yup - 22K sounds in the range. I saw a fully loaded 08 package 6 with all bells and whistles (8000 miles) + certified used at a Toyota dealer - the dealer wouldnt budge below 24K and this was couple of months ago
I payed $18.4k for a pack 2 in Dec with 7.5k miles and was offered a new 09, pack 2 for $20.75k for the wife That gives you some reference. Remember, the packages get discounted a lot on a used car most likely.
