Maybe I'm having jet lag, but I'm having trouble understanding how the 17s are asymmetrical. Would side by side pictures help me see it?

I think I'm just going to wait for DICE to update their unit's software. As soon as it works with the Venza, it should work with the 2010 Prius (at least the Nav models).

The dealer add-on is more limited in features and costs 2x as much.

And what's this about USB? I hadn't heard anything about that!

The Chief mentioned something about USB. We weren't sure if he meant USB Integration (i.e. using a flashdrive) or USB iPod Connectivity. Given that it seems to be a dealer-installed accessory, I'm leaning towards iPod connectivity.

I re-read the question. I apologise. I was thinking Bluetooth Audio. Yes USB is separate and thanks for letting us know it is a dealer-installed accessory.

You guys are so worried about the wheels, that no one has commented on the tires. It appears that the 15" tire is Bridgestone Ecopia, which claims to be low rolling resistance. See this recent news story about that tire:
Bridgestone Brand Ecopia EP100 Debuts at Chicago Auto Show - Yahoo! Finance

I'm not sure whether the tire is the exact same model; does anyone have a better photo of the tire than the photo in post #74? If so, can you please see whether EP100 appears as the model number?

The 2010 Prius has 15inch ECOPIA EP20. Also, Toyota IQ has ECOPIA EP25.
The EP100 is an aftermarket brand and has been well accepted among Japanese Prius drivers since April 2008.

    Bridgestone Americas, Inc.

    BTW,
I think these ECOPIA's are summer tires and the Goodyear Integrity is all season. My previous US made Honda Accord also had Goodyear all season tires, and I thought the US vehicle is mandated using all season tires.

Sadly, the Bridgestone site has no info on the EP20, and very little on the one sized EP-02.

Thanks for the info on EP20!

The Sandy Beach Prius also has 15" wheels, but I think it may have different tires installed. Does anyone have a photo good enough to show the tire brand and model on that car??

I hope that the final tire model chosen for the US will be better than Goodyear Integrity or Bridgestone Potenza RE92.

It's not missing - it's listed as part of the JBL stereo system.

My wife and I put down $500 to get on the pre-order list. We really want IV w/the solar roof and the Advanced Tech. packages. It's a shame Toyota won't let you have both.

We're now looking at getting the insight. Sad sad sad.

The 15 inch wheels sans covers look fine to me.
I heard the tyres on the 2010 Prius had not been finalised yet.
Fit an aftermarket reverse camera if you can't drive well enough to reverse without it.

I'll be getting a base model, I can't justify to myself the extra coin for more toys. I'll still have a Prius.

Yep buy an Insight, I wonder what you will get when you trade for a Prius in a few months when you realise it's a poor cousin? How can anyone say "I can't get enough toys in a great real hybrid so I'm going to get a smaller, lesser, thirstier semi-hybrid Honda."?

I remember him saying that too, but he also said it would be about a 3mpg hit to have the 17's.

Very interesting about package IV vs V. I suspect many people will be torn between the two, I know I am. I am not sold so much on the wheels as the aftermarket will easily take care of that. The LED headlights though... why!? :)

About 6 months ago I put myself on the dealer waiting list for both the Insight and the Prius. Not knowing anything about either car, I figured to play it safe. Now after reading as much as possible about both cars, I e-mailed Honda and said no thanks.
I hope whichever car you choose , I hope you are happy.:)

Like it or not folks ... Toyota is going to be battling Honda's Insight for customers ... Honda was wise with their move to make it not quite as efficient, but cheaper than the Prius. Some of you wouldn't buy one (I wouldn't either), but we are on a Prius forum and we are not the general public.

Not including a backup camera on the lower end models allows Toyota to get closer to the Insight's pricing and still be able to say it gets better fuel economy.

Glad to see all the info! Thanks :)

    Questions for Model IV:

"power driver lumbar support" -- any specific info or example for this option?

    "
autodimming rearview mirror with Homelink" -- I told myself I would never get leather seats again, but this rearview mirror option is only included with leather seats. Would it be possible to get this rearview installed seperately? I use it every day(!)

We can reprogram our 2004-2009, but that doesn't mean that you can reprogram the locks on 2010. Anyone tried that?

Besides, unlock the doors is one thing, open the door for my friends (esp girlfriend and now my wife) is another. I really don't mind reaching out for the remote, but that just makes the SKS on the driver side useless. And for the cost savings, Toyota should just take that SKS off completely.

I guess I am the only person in this forum not to ride my Prius alone.

If it really cost $4K to have a backup camera, it could mean 2 things:

    1. Toyota made a lot of money on this. I have yet to see a aftermarket backup camera cost more than $1K. Okay you may say that aftermarket screens aren't touch screen, but 7" touch screens don't cost $3K.

    2. Toyota could drop the cost of the current bare bone Prius to $20K or so (Package #2 - camera). Put it another way, they overpriced the the current bare bone Prius by $2K.
