Has anybody here gotten their video input from CoastalETech yet?

I am going on nine weeks now of waiting. I don't want to bug them, but want to find out if they have arrived yet. Anybody got it installed and working?

    Thoughts?

My dealer told me they would be happy to install a video camera that displays the rear bumper on the MFD for $900.

I don't know who's system it was, I passed out before I had a chance to ask.

It has been about 8 or 9 weeks for me and I was wondering the same thing.
But I guess patience is key.
The email I received when I ordered it has a 4-6 week wait on it, but the website now has 6-8 weeks.
I think they have alot of orders and can't keep up with them.

I already installed a DVD player in the DIN slot under the radio, I am just waiting to hook up the Viewtech 2005.

I had a DVD player and backup camera in my 2001 Prius. I miss it.
Hope to have something new to play with soon. Maybe.

Got my backup camera last week.

Also just waiting to plug it in and make the necessary modifications.

I went with one straight from Japan instead of the coastal one. Just mere preference as I have a license plate frame already that I prefer to keep.

From what I read from Frenchie's thread, is the OEM camera hard to install?

    Haven't done it yet.

I think it is easier than presented, if you have the coastal video unit.

Looks like you just splice the wire for the correct power needs and one for video and you are done. The rest is routing the cable, (which looks fairly time consuming.)

Not sure yet, but I will let you know how it goes.

hehe ok. Just note, I am absolutely clueless when it comes to engineering and this sort of thing (hence coastal's EV mod would be easier for me than the OEM version even though I prefer the OEM button).

How much was the camera anyway? Does it come with all the necessary parts?

    It's about $300.

Doesn't come with all of the pieces, but if it goes together pretty easily, maybe I'll make a few up for others. Shouldn't be that hard.

Unfortunately, you still have to be comfortable drilling a hole in your car and removing interior panels, as there is a lot of cable routing that needs to be done.

    Hmm.... so professional installation recommended?

I would recommend professional installation if you are not comfortable with pulling out the interior panels to hide the wire. It's quite a few.

Other than that it should be pretty easy.

I see. Alright. I think it'll stick with the EV first :p

I contacted Caostaletech awhile ago to confirm my order for the viewtech device -- they said that they were expected to arrive in mid to late April and would send mail out to everyone who preordered with their place in line. This suggests they got more orders than number of expected devices...anyway, sounds like they should be gettting their shipment soon and will begin sending them out.
