AFAIK the keyfob can remotely start the A/C system (including compressor), not just the fan. Overall, a decent piece of news coverage by CNN, but still guilty of technical inaccuracies. I've seen other recent examples of news articles about the G3 Prius with technical misunderstandings, most notably about the solar cooling. A different article I read stated that the moonroof and windows would be controllable by the remote (and not the A/C).
