danl . . . No, the $12,175 figure was trade-in value per Kelley's. Their private party sale value was $14,345 or $495 more than the dealer gave me as trade-in credit. Since I did not plan to go through the hassle of a direct sale unless there was a substantial difference from what I was offered by the dealer, I thought the KBB trade-in value was probably the most reasonable basis to evaluate my "deal." I'd be interested in any opinions out there on how to evaluate deals involving trade-ins and comparing them with deals not involving trade-ins.

Just bought 2007 three days ago - $12,500 w/52,000 miles. I know this car should not seem like a challenge but being an oldie (51years), this is an odd car.
FWIW, last night for the first time in my memory here in the Ballamer area there was an ad on TV featuring the Prius. Additionally, the ad highlighted the $750 cash rebate. :cheer2:
