$21000 for a repo'd 2007 Pkg 2 with 10000 miles two months ago when gas was only 3.75. I shopped new and used for 6 months before I found a deal I could live with, and without paying thousands extra for features I dont need. I imagine I could get 23 grand for it now gas is 4.50 locally. Dont let you local dealer screw you, You may have to travel 100 miles to make the right deal. Good Luck

    >>Of course the prices are published in the US - for me I am located in Costa Rica and didn't pay anything near what you guys in the states pay.

Not even close! I paid $33.000 because I got mine (2007) on late 2007, just before the 2008, so they cut $2k from the original $36k price tag, and since it is the same style, nothing changed I tough it was a great deal. WHAT A MISTAKE! Well... a lot of things happened with the Purdy Motors Agency.... the car wasn't new.... it had 700Km on the odometer, which is "almost new" but NOT new.... so they took another $1k out of the price... and I said.... what the hell! I'm saving $3k....

    >> Both are same equipment the only package available here in Costa Rica - touring package, No Nav, No Camera.

Hey.... here shall I add: No MP3, No CD-Changer, no video input, no center console audio input for iPods, no HID lights, no GPS, no XM Radio, no voice commands, no audio DVD, no leather seats, what else am I missing?

If you want a 3rd Prius to your collection, send me an email I'm giving mine out for $24k. Is a 2007 black tinted glasses. My wife drives a Citroen C4 TDI Common Rail, which is like $7000 cheaper than the Prius.... better materials, better ergonomics, better suspension, waaay lots more power, panoramic roof, AND it is MORE ECONOMIC THAN THE PRIUS! (Yes believe it or not my Prius makes around 7.5l/100 km average between tanks, the Citroen makes 6 or even less, and being a Diesel car, the difference in $ per mile is abrupt). So... in general I'm hating the car. Maybe is not the car's fault. Is just that I have always had sports cars, but at a certain point I felt stupidly ambientalist.... and went for the prius....

BTW: Resell market price: The Citroen Agency depreciated 15% on the first year to receive the car (also a 2007). The Toyota (Purdy motors) wanted to depreciate it 30% ($25.000) after 3 monts use, and 4000km. Why? NOBODY WANTS a PRIUS in Costa Rica, not even Purdy Motors, they know how hard it is to sell a cheap Japanese car at the price of luxory europeans, just because it has an ovesized battery, which takes a lot of open minery to build, provoking a huge environmental mess by building the cars.... but makes you feel good..... because you're not the one directly polluting!
What are you going to do with your battery after 7-10 years when your battery die? Do you think Purdy will stick to the recycling program they have on the 1st world? That would make the same pollution as several thousand miles on a diesel car!

This mail is not exactly a good sales proposal, but that's how I feel about my car. If you like yours, then definitively will like mine for $24k. It's in perfect shape. I just hate it.

Maybe the Prius is the perfect car for the first world, but not here...
The only thing I liked about it is the Gold Johnny walker, the Baula Project CD and the little toy car they sent me for taking the survey.... did you got yours?

'08 Touring pkg6 Prius originally purchased in July of 08 for 29,500 by an 88 year old man.

He sold it to us with 2516 miles on it for 23000, this month, with an extra set of aluminum wheels.

    You lucky bastards...:)
I live in Norway and paid, converted to US$, 54900.
And the taxes on this car is actually really low here, due to the low emissions.

US$54,900???! WOW - can you please check your conversion again (sorry it is hard to comprehend). What package did you get and how many gold bars came with it? ;)

Hope salaries in Norway are a lot higher to compensate for it:). Enjoy your new car.

I wish I had made a mistace in the conversion:)
The numbers are correct, just did the math once more.
We don't have the package system you guys seem to have.
The only thing my car doesn't have is HID, that's not available here.
Other than that I think I've got it all:)
So my package is called executive leather and nav.
Cars are extremely expensive in Norway due to high taxes.
The more powerful the car, the more tax you get.
Typically a 175BHP car has more taxes than the actual value of the car.

I bought our 2004 when it was only a few months old, with just under 10K miles. This guy didn't want to return to duty in Iraq, so he had to sell everything quick. All options, registerd, out the door, around $19K.

    $59,900 ? Holy Molie !!

And if that's not sad enough ~ you guys don't even drown your sorrows properly:

Prices are coming down off of MSRP now that gas prices have fallen, the economy is faltering, 2010 redsign coming and Toyota is hurting. Attached are a couple of advertisements where one dealer discounted a new 09 Prius with an MSRP of $24,725.00 down to $23,980.00 for a $745.00 reduction. The second ad is even better. It is also a new 09 with an MSRP of $24,725.00 as well but it is selling for $22,790.00 for a reduction of $1935.00!!

Just bought a used 2004 package 9 with 67k for $10,999. Buyers market right now but I don't see it lasting long.

Drove it nearly 1k miles in the first 3 days of owning it!

I paid 17500 for a 2005 Pkg 6 Salsa Red with 14025 miles on the clock!! (Clean Carfax history-No Accidents and Accurate Miles) When I saw it for sale on the dealer, I took it out of the dealers hand quicker that I could sign the paperwork!!! I am extremly satisfied with it and it is the second prius in the family. The first one (purchase and station in Puerto Rico) was purchased for $23,000 in 2004 and is a PR PKG 1. Equivalent to the 2004 package 4 here in the states!

I find it's tough to compare prices without considering a number of factors. I just purchased an 09 Package #2 with carpeted floor and cargo mats. Below is my assessment of the deal. I'd like some feedback on how I approached the analysis. By the way all figures include the dealer's "Processing Fee" and Toyota's current $750 rebate as part of the price. Taxes and DMV fees are excluded.

    Price Paid - $22,888

    Amount received on Trade-In: $13,850

    Trade-In Value per Kelley: $12,175
    Offer by CarMax: $10,000
Amount offered by several other Toyota Dealers within 50 mile radius: $11,500

Based on the above, I figure I received $1,675 better than the highest alternative value estimate ($12,175 by Kelley).

Taking the price paid of $22,888 and reducing it by the $1,675 "extra" the dealer offered me on my trade-in, I consider that I actually purchased the Pri at an adjusted price of at no more than $21,213. If I use one of the actual trade-in offers by other dealers or by CarMax, my adjusted price paid would be even lower.

This $21,213 figure is $468 under what I figure is dealer cost (invoice less rebate less 2% holdback). However, the dealer will probably make between $1,200 and $1,500 on the sale of my trade-in based on my survey of what the vehicle is selling for around the country.

Well, what's the opinion out there? Was my thinking on point? Or did I screw up somewhere? Thanks for any replies - good or bad!

$22,500 for my 2009 grey metallic package 2, no trade in. That's including dealer fees and the $500 rebate ( we don't get the $750 or $1k rebate as in CA :( )

Tomel51m, that sounds like an awesome deal considering you got a better trade in value than KBB. The $12,175 value, is the the private party value?
