My wife has a 2002 Prius with 35000 miles on it, we plan to keep this car an have ordered a new second ( ordered car August 2004 ). I just checked with our salesman, of the 150 orders his dealership has for the Prius we are 45th . He then said they get 7 per month so we should get ours about in October or so. That would be 14 months. I just checked out a few dealers on both coasts for stock on hand an found quite a few had some in stock. Maybe I will visit my brother in Portland, Oregon and go shoping in the area and drive one back home. I wonder why we in the midwest have to wait while others can just walk in and buy theres? Unfortunately, the Midwest isn't raging with demand for the Prius. Neither is the South (where I live) However, this worked to my advantage when I found a smart salesman who got mine in under 12 weeks. I'd give him a call: Kevin Reed, Beaman Toyota Nashville.
You might consider calling James Auto Center, in Moses Lake, WA. They are great folks to deal with and can probably get you into a new Prius on short order at MSRP, no gimmicks. Most of their customers are into agriculture and want pickups. Ask for Dave Sawyer and tell them Bob Allen sent you. I've gotten four people to buy their Prii from these guys; one guy came up from Palm Springs, CA. James Auto Center (509) 765-4517 Moses Lake is 180 miles east of Seattle. I-90 runs right through it.
