I suspected as much. Thanks for the reassurance. I hope I haven't violated the 'confidentiality agreement' by opening my mouth about the 'secret' order/program...
If I am given the opportunity to pre-order I hope they offer special pricing to early adopters of the G3 Prius. With the way things are now I will not pay MSRP for a vehicle, even it is a G3 Prius.
I am surprised that the sunroof isn't available with the Platinum model, but then I read the FAQ like a good little boy and I understand now, but I'm still bummed.
Sounds like you know what the packages are. Any chance they provided you with an electronic version of the brochure with all the packages in detail? Or perhaps someone at the show scanned a brochure with all the package information? I can't believe, though, that some feature are not available with the solar roof option. That's a bummer, if true. I think I would really want both the solar roof cooling as well as the new safety features like LKA. I would think there would be a high-end package with all the bells and whistles.
We do NOT know what packages will be available to the general public. Rigor's talking about the 3 priority ordering packages offered to a select group.
when the Gen 2 came out I was given the opportunity pre-order the 2004 because I was one of the "Go Before" ones that ordered a 2002 directly from Toyota (OK directly through a dealer) off the Internet, and yes there was three packages, 1, 2, 3, I got the pgk 3.. nav and fully loaded... 27K+ out the door. No note yet so I guess they are not offering the "Go Before'ers" again... we orderd cars sight unseen with only a date that the car might be on the boat... Turns out that mine was on the second boat to the LA depot and I went and picked it up Nov 13, 2003... what a very sweet day... I have had three people buy a Prius here in the Austin because I let them "Kick the Tires" on my 2004 Prius and gave them all the ins and outs of the car and what you will get and not... even had it at "Eco" day at IBM once... Next to a Ford, Honda, hybrids
This is by no means the end-all description of all models to be introduced when the car "goes live." This is just the three models for the Prius Priority ordering.
Well, I'm not in any financial position to trade my car for a new Prius, but I'll be watching for the first one with leather bisque seats that gets totalled. I call dibs on the height adjustable heated leather front seats.
I just wish Maritz was a little more careful about how they send out mail blasts. This has been an ongoing problem for a bunch of people. Sure, they're a travel and marketing outfit, not an IT department, but still... when they actively turn away good advice about playing nice on teh interwebz, ya gotta wonder. . _H*
Is it official that moonroof, foglight, 17 inch wheel, led light , lka and radar cruise control cannot be together at the same time? Or just for the pre order model only? Also, is the headlight washer come with standard/option (since it didn't list in the package specs pdf)?
The official reason is the high technology combined w/ the moonroof adds too much to the weight and drops MPG. So it's advanced technology or the moonroof w/ solar - at this point. This was listed in an FAQ for the pre-order folks.
MSRP. some people were paying $5,000 over just to get there hands on one... but I did get $1,000 off to come to CA to get the car from TX. yea... I put 1300 miles on my sweet new 2004 prius in two day as I drove it back..
You weren't the only one who did that from Dianne. At the time, I had paid $1200 below MSRP. Nobody knows what our "discount" will be this time around, and whether or not dealers will have latitude to alter Toyota's pricing agreement on this.
Pre-ordering for the Prius Pioneers. I had mentioned this previously in a few threads. I expected that Toyota would send out invitations to some of the original Gen 1 Pioneers to order a new Gen 3 before the rest of us rabble clog up the ordering lines. As noted above by pjm877 they want to keep owners in the fold and to give priority to those who took the first 'leap of faith' and got the Prius off and running in NA. They did this with the Gen 2's and it makes sense that they'd do it again.
Anyone else notice this little tidbit on the page: The 2010 Prius includes many added features and technology improvements. While pricing is not yet available, we estimate the difference between the Silver and Platinum Packages to be roughly $10,000–$12,000.
So that will be the same when it available to public? If it is, I think I will go for the gold package and then add the platinum options by myself then........
Drats - I'd love to be on this list... I guess I haven't been very active in the past year. I was most active on PC when I pre-ordered my 2006 before anyone had ever seen a jpg of silver-pine-mica. Oh well, I'm sure I'll get mine a day or two after everyone on the list Dave
