The Illinois Personalized Plate must end in one or two numerals, preceded by up to six or five alpha characters, respectively, for a total of up to seven characters. There is always a space before the numeral(s). Here are the ones I'm not going to apply for: PWR OF 2 HARV 79 (alma mater, on a red car) BBBOBN 3 (again, red car, bob-bob-bobbin' along - you have to know the song and that robins are red, red) HUSH 3 (I prefer odd numbers, for rationing reasons - one never knows) BRID 1 (so you can say hi) JC DROV 1 (my wife said absolutely not) CLN LVN 1 NRG X 2 Then after I get my application approved, I will list what I did get. First I was advised to just get a random plate so while I wait for the custom job I will be reliably identified. I don't claim any rights for these and you are free to try for them in any state. But I would be entertained if you were to post the actual text that you used, if not a photo. I realize there are two threads for this topic and maybe they should be merged. I have chosen the path more traveled. [Edited so I could Stop Watching This Topic - seems like the only way any more]
I don't want to pay for a vanity plate, but when I considered it I came up with "WATTGAS", which accurately describes the car and sounds like "what gas?". Feel free to use if you want to.
I decided to stick mine in my sig... (the <heart> symbol probably only comes through on IE for many people).
I was thinking about getting a personal plate that reads.... SP8SHIP What do you think? As much high tech that is in this car it kind of reminds me of a spaceship. I also like SIP GAS and GR8 MPG
I recently applied for my personalized plate, which should get here in a few weeks. It will read: /dev/hyb
So is Myne. It started with Electra, with Carmen implied by a play on the red color (the wife quickly vetoed that). We then decided on Carmine as a color, very similar to our Salsa. CarMyne was the final choice because my wife is a bit possessive....
Ordered mine online I'm in California and wanted to check to see if any of my ideas where already taken but couldn't find anyplace to check. So I just went to the ca.gov DMV site and signed up for personalized plates. They took my money and didn't say it was taken so I am going to be: HYBRDZD Because I have been "hybridized". I think the savings on gas will cover the extra $30 a year.
I don't have one at this time....however, we have some great neighbors up the street who are big environmentalists. One drives a Toyota RAV4 electric vehicle and the other drives an 05 Toyota Prius hybrid. I know one car has the plate, "PASSGAS". Thought that was hilarious!
I've not received mine yet, but it will read REVVOLT (REVOLT was taken). And the California DMV recently notified me of one unanticipated consequence of the misspelling: as the Reverend Volt, all my income is now exempt from taxes.
I thought of one this morning as I passed a gas station full of SUVs... while being passed by another SUV going about 15mph over the speed limit.. NV MY MPG If only I hadn't applied to transfer my plates 3 weeks ago and paid all those fees already! Man...
My black 05' package 6 (BC) with tinted windows has EV mode, auto door locks, OEM XM radio and fully functional bluetooth. It's a computer geek car for a computer geek. My vanity plate is my Avatar.
Purchased and drove away Pkg# 2 Silver on 27th March, Fairfax VA, and are waiting for Virginia tags. We are both puzzled: is there any reason the dealer application for tags should not automatically be for clean fuel plates (CF)? Apparently that is a totally separate application process; and then Vanity plates (transfer, in this case) yet a third process. TKS2GD we can transfer now since selling our old car yesterday, 1992 VW Golf 4-door mileage 141,365
what are clean fuel plates? Are clean fuel plates only something they do in Virginia? I wish I got a special sticker or they gave a break on the registration for cars that are hybrid or alternative fuel. Waiting for that diamond lane thing to go through too.
I am not certain (about other states) Yes, it does allow one person (or more) to drive in HOV lanes that otherwise require two or three persons in a vehicle. Right now I think this privilege is set to expire (2006). I empathize with people who have to wait for their Prius. We did not but now I am feeling very impatient with just trying to get / transfer one vanity tag set.
