pricing will be announced in april.... specs are looking pretty hot sunroof heated seats flir expandable battery pack (maybe...defnitely room for it)
With all these new amenities and options, my guess the base price starts at $26K and fully loaded at $35K. The 2010 Prius actually competes with the Camry Hybrid as it is officially a mid-size car.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that it'll start at 23,500.... I think going to that ghetto MFD was a dollar saving thing more then anything else. I don't think they want to price this sucker at 26,000.... Not a good price point IMHO.
I think the bare bones base model will start around $19k. Keep in mind the Honda Insight's MSRP starts at around the $19k mark. Plus many aspects of the Gen2 Prius have been carried over with hopefully a lower price. High end MSRP should be in the low to mid $30's.
im thinking 24,000 - 45,000. thats my opinion. i would speculate that a lot of the options that are offered will probably cancel out other options. maybe it will be the same as the 2004-2009 series in UK, maybe the $1,200 Intelligent Parking Assist will only be available in the lower packages, things like that to keep the msrp low. im sure they will have a touring package too, because of the optional 215/45/r18 tires or was it r19, not sure im guessing that it will be impossible to get a prius equipped with all the options that are announced in the same car at the same time, if thats the case then the msrp may be lower
Up to this point in time, the Prius has been in a class all of its' own. However with competing models of hybrid automobiles becoming available (eg. Honda Insight), pricing will have to be competitive. One thing is for sure, there will be a lot more options to choose from making the MSRP price range wider. Keith
well, Toyota has said that the options will add "10-12,000" to the price so if the base is around $21,000, the top of the line will be $31-33,000
I think your right on. Even if Toyota has to take a hit in the beginning,they have to price the car to be somewhat close to the Insight. (Even though the g3 is on a level by itself).
I asked one of the Toyota reps how pricing was determined overall, as well as for option packages, and it's derived from several things, which may include the following: * Consumer demand * Competition and where they want to position their vehicle against it * Consumer desirability (options) * Sales targets and market conditions There's obviously some latitude in that, but it was interesting that it wasn't just cut and dry x% above our own costs for fixed margin.
it was 10-12k additonally from silver package, which was based on the package thats at least 24.5k right now...
I had not saw this thread but in another thread I just made a guess saying $23,500 to start... And that was based on an article that was out today in Japan giving their figures on price increases from the 2g to the 3g in yen. $23,500 to start with a loaded (platinum) probably topping out at $34,000. If they allow us to get the moonroof/solar with the platinum like they should, maybe $35,500 to $36,000. Just my guesses.
problem is that silver package is comparable to current packages that costs >24.5... so for prius to start at 23.5, it would mean it got 1k-3k lower price than gen2.
sure it is... just not nav screen mfd... but to replace that you have million other things that are more expensive from engine, motors, seats, well everything . package 2 in cali costs 24.5k msrp, and silver package has more features than it... if silver package ends up being less than 25k, it means Prius went down in price.
$37,400 base and $46,900 loaded in Australia. It has always been this way and shall continue I suspect. Come on Toyota Australia, shock me with lower prices! All prices in this post in AU dollars.
