I have untill tommorow (24MAR2004) to accept or reject a Driftwood Pearl that got allocated to me (coming in 3 weeks). I found soem pix at J. Kash's web site, and some at the MN gathering pix here. But if anyone has more, I'd like a link. Also, those who have seen it in real life, a description would be good. From what I've seen I'd call it tan with a hint of gold. I don't esp *dislike* the color, but I don't like nearly enough as the Tideland I ordered... (see my post is Order tracking) Brian
I have the Driftwood Pearl myself. It wasn't my first choice, but I got the car in 3 days(!) so I wasn't complaining too much. The best picture I've found of it is on John1701a's site: http://john1701a.com/prius/presentations/2...ntroduction.jpg
There's another one at John's site which I was told was the Driftwood. It's taken in snow, and looks considerably different (to me) than the Driftwood's I've seen in person. (Metallic golden tan). The overcast weather may have something to do with the color. http://john1701a.com/prius/owners/kou.htm Know how you feel -- I've specified that I want the Tideland (green) Pearl, but if I'd been waiting a long time, I might feel differently. BTW, great pictures of a Tideland Pearl, for comparison: http://alexkarahalios.home.comcast.net/200.../2004Prius.html
We took a Driftwood Peal AM-7 instead of Tideland because it came in on the truck on a dealer trade the day of our test drive. Now that we've had it for several months, we really like it. The picture from John's site is pretty accurate. Driftwood is a more subdued color, less bronze or gold as seen on other makes. Looks good between washes and looks good any time of day. Go for it. Bob,
I'm leaning towards getting it. Because if I wait a month, there is no guarantee that my color/option will be available.... Brian
I have a driftwood. I was expecting a lighter tan and was disappointed when I first saw it, but have come to love it. I think it's a very classy color. The "pearl" shows mainly in sunlight. It lives up to the name "driftwood" there is a hint of grey along with the tan/brown. It makes for a rich blend. It goes well with the ivory interior. It continues to look good even as it gets dirty.
Driftwood was on the bottom of my want list, just before black or red. Then I test-drove a Driftwood, and absolutely loved the color of it. It's definately more of a goldish-tan with a sparkle to it (in the sun) than just a simple tan color. Now, after seeing every color in person, and driving a Driftwood, Salsa, and Black (the one I ended up with!), I think my least favorite color is probably the white. And, even then, if I would've been offered white, I still would've jumped at it! -m.
Here's a week-old photo, waiting for the Vashon Island ferry back to Seattle. You can see the color in different light; side is to the late afternoon sun, front is in partial shade. Rather a tasteful shade, now that we've had it for a while. Oh - Notice the absense of trim rings on the wheels...took them off the first week. Enjoy. Bob
I made a deposit in to get a silver Prius back in October. The dealer couldn't tell me when it would come in. Two weeks ago he called me and said a Driftwood one was in and it was mine if I wanted it. After looking at it, it was gold and sparkling, I decided gold was worth more than silver so I got it. That was the best thing I could have done. It is GREAT!!! So fun to drive. Sorry do not have any pictures yet. You will like it. Enjoy, Mike
The driftwood pearl is more khaki than tan. It takes polish really well and looks great in the sun. The white and silver colors just don't scintillate like the darker cars. Driftwood is a good compromise ( the red looks really cool with a good wax job) and I've grown to like the driftwood option. I think the white/tan upholstery is going to be a bit of a b**ch to keep clean but I'll manage.
We've only had our Driftwood Prius a few days. The color DOES seem to change based on the angle of the sun, but we really like it!
