I have talked to Best Buy and Circuit City, but I keep getting incomplete or incorrect information on how to best install my stiletto in my prius w/ the aux plug. Any ideas? I have a car kit, but it is not as simple as it seems.
I had the S50 and now the stiletto in my 07 prius and it was VERY easy to install. I took a few pics. I use the aux jack and it works great. AS you can see I mounted it on the curve under the shifter. It does not get in the way of anything and is easy to reach.
JelloSlug - Nice and clean installation. What other components are required to complete this install? Does the Stiletto-2 plug into the AUX port using the USB connector? If not now? How is the Stiletto-2 attached to the arm-rest compartment? Thanks in advance.
In JelloSlug's photo the stiletto is mounted in a SVCDOC-1 car doc, which connects to a TOYSC1 vehicle adapter (which in turn plugs into the back of the radio). Using these two parts is preferable because it gives you touchscreen and steering wheel control of the Sirius tuner.
PDHENRY - So with the install of the TOYCS1 (~$100) and the SCVDOC1 (~$50) I will be able to use the tuner in the Stiletto-2 and play/control Sirius Radio through the steering wheel and Navigation touch screen on my 2006, Package-8, Sat-ready, JLB 6-disc radio. The package will include the magnetic antenna and dock station will provide the 12v power from the Prius. Are there any video installations instructions out there helping with taking the dash apart and running the antenna wire back to the hatch back roof? This is a great concept; one that utilizes one Sirius monthly subscription, the capabilities built into the Prius and the portability of the Stiletto all for less than ~$370. Any pit falls to be aware of or other suggestions to improve on the project? Thanks!
I'm not sure of any video instructions but there are instructions here on the forum for how to take your dash apart.
I have an XM installed by dealer and the Toyota instructions had the antenna mounted on the dash. I had lots of dropped signals and this past Monday had them move the antenna to the roof behind the FM antenna. That is 95% better. The Toyota instructions for Sirius describe roof mounting... go figure?
Yes, but NOTE that none of the "advanced" functions of the Stiletto 2 will operate when it is used in this configuration. The only function you get is a tuner that can be controlled via the MFD and steering wheel (including the 18 presets that you can enter into the MFD) - no favorite musician, recording/playback functions, etc. That's why I went with ~the cheapest dock & play radio I could find. If your intent is to use the Stiletto in the car part time and in a home dock or boombox the rest of the time this may be fine for you. If the advanced functions are important I recommend you use the power and Aux-in ports in the console and route an antenna wire into the console as well. Much cheaper and you'll retain use of those functions, at the expense of having to open the console whenever you want to access the Stiletto controls.
what cord do you use from the stiletto to the auxiliary jack? I can't wait to give this a try. thanks.
