$21888 for a package #2 is insanely low. That just can't be beat. I wonder why Toyota isn't offering that $1000 everywhere, just CA.
I bought mine for $21,9xx in February, and other people had reported paying ~$21,700 around that time. That was when gas was about $3.50/gallon. Now it's well under $2.
Not on the East Coast. I just got my dealer down to 23287.50 on an 09, and that's as far as he'll go. It's invoice, he tells me, + car mats. I think that's correct, as every other dealer I've talked to today (and I've talked to a lot) tells me 23300 is invoice. Add $100 for reg/tags (which we'll do ourselves in CT) and we're otd on this #2 Spectra blue for 23400 or so.
Roseville in CA was advertising $21,233 for pkg 2s last week. They also had $199/mnth, 12k mile/yr, 3 year leases, almost $3k down though. Pretty crazy times. Here in Phoenix, I'm pretty much just getting quotes of invoice - $750 factory rebate from everyone. Thats about $24,400 OTD with our taxes (~8% + ~$400 license tax). Rob
I purchased an 09 Touring package 6 for $26,685 which came to $28,363 OTD on Wednesday (12/31) at Big Two Toyota in Chandler, AZ.
We ended up buying a CPO '08 pkg 4 w/10k miles from the same dealer a few days later for $20,800 and they gave us a decent amount for our trade. They had a whole bunch of Priuses on the lot, didn't they. They had about 8 '07 pkg 2's with 10-20k miles on that they are into for ~$24-25k. I don't think they know what to do with them, they refuse to take a loss, but they are certainly not selling for that anytime soon. Rob
Rob, I didn't go out on the lot. The fleet salesman I was dealing with (Marshall Sharp) picked us up at Sky Harbor and took us in a side door. The car was waiting in the pick up area and I signed a few papers with Marshall and then signed some more papers with the Finance manager Jeff Sides and we drove away. Big Two & Power Toyota had the best quotes I was able to find (and the most accommodating sales people). I checked Central Texas, DFW, Houston, San Antonio (Gulf States Toyota totally screws these dealers with unnecessary extras), San Diego, Las Vegas, Phoenix & Los Angeles. We were going to Phoenix to spend New Years with my in-laws anyway so it worked out well. The drive back to Texas was long and I found the Prius to be an OK Interstate driver but was very impressed when I got off I-10 onto US 290 East where the Hill Country starts. The car just ate up the hills & curves so smoothly that I was amazed. Dave
Maybe the last Prius deal to go down in 2008...7pm (PST) on 31 December I negotiated a $25,604 price for a 2009 Touring Package 6...
Thats what I am looking for-was it a hard days work or did they go willingly. Would like to know what dealer. ( Did it include the $720 delivery fee?)
Here's another ebay score...I purchased my NEW '09 Prius Package 6....everything in it but the leather option.....$22,300. It was brand new (99 Miles) and never registered, came with manufacturers MSO....film company purchased it for a commercial which they didn't get so they were stuck with the car. Had to pay tax (6%) and registration $50.00-Idaho registration. Ron
Way to go Ron! :welcome: I paid $26,000 for a '09 Pkg. 6 on 01/02/09. Wish I would have found this forum earlier. I might have saved a few hundred more. Oh well, I got them to agree to install after market heaters to the leather seats. I'm happy. I'm averaging 48 mpg on my short (16 miles) commute. I hope to do better now after I learned about the zen art of "gliding" instead of coasting by reading this forum.
...it was a bit challenging, but always cordial...now I just need to drive it to see if I like it! It's been sitting in the garage for a week as I'm still driving my RX400h!

Do you have the link to the auction? I searched and couldn't find it. A package 6 does come with leather. So, maybe you have a lower package?
I already posted on the newbie forum..but thought would post here too. I just put down a deposit for a 2009 prius package2 for $22850.
I do not know exactly what that area is doing but in the Boston Region they are selling in the 22600 area for a package #2.
Dave, How did you get quotes from all these dealers? Email? Phone? Also, how do break through to the Fleet Manager. I suspect that there are many dealers in the Puget Sound or even a two or three hour drive away that might have inventory they'd like to move. I have no clue as to the best way to locate. Driving dealer to dealer seems like an inefficient way. Thanks Bill Morgan

I went to toyota website, searched for dealers in my local area. Then went to each dealer website and got the email address for the internet sales or fleet dept. for each. In some cases this is not straight forward, you may have to hunt around. Generally if you are emailing sales, its internet sales. I then put together an email with what we were looking for, and bcc'd all the dealers, but did let them know that I was shopping this around to multiple dealers. I sent out several follow ups to the group of dealers who responded to my initial email. First email went to about 15 dealers, subsequent ones to around 11. In our case it was somewhat complicated by the fact that we were very flexible on color, package, new vs. CPO, and were even considering a Camry Hybrid initially and we had an undesirable trade. The more specific you are the more straight forward it will probably be, but the less potential offers you will probably get. Rob
Thanks for the reply. I've compiled my list. I'll start sending my emails over the weekend. I also went to COSTCO.COM and filled out a request. They specified names at a nearby dealer. I'm not sure what kind of offer that will be. I'm trusting that the current credit mess PLUS the 2010 announce is building 2009 inventory. I'm somewhat flexible. Probably want PKG 5 -- maybe a few color choices. I'm not sure I understand the delta value of PKG 6 -- seems a lot for leather. EDIT: Followed up on the COSTCO.COM contact. Bought a PKG 5 Saturday --- 26398 total out the door price. Probably could have beat that shopping the dealers. But, I'm happy enough. There seems to be plenty of inventory around.
