07 help needed

    Just got a project car and its starting to add up quickly. After lookin the car over my 07 prius has damage to the trans motor gen plugs 1 and 2, the plug is gone at the end of the trans near the frame rail, even worst its solidered direct and the bare shield wire is rolled back! What is the shieled wire connect to? the other plug close to it is there but the harness side plug gone and that to is solidered and shieled wire rolled back. WHAT A MESS! the air bag sensor was missing on the frame rail along with the plug, picked one up a local yard,so far i replaced the condenser, radiator and need some body parts, not a big deal. i deceided to install the radiator and fill it with the pink fluid, filled the inverter and fixed all elecrtical harness wiring problems, execpt at the trans! but did not plug the left air bag sensor in in fear that if it was bad it would set of the air bag in the dash?
    Air bags all in tact. How do i check the sensor out to see if its ok?
    I did bleed all the air out of the system. hook up a 12v. supply to turn the pump on to circulate coolant. I did not fill the a/c compressor did not add oil, did not turn the ac on!
    Started the car, Master warning light came on VSC, brake light red maint reqd. check engine and a car icon with an exclamation?
    tryed to drive the car made it 5 blocks, had no power, it stalled. But was able get it home before stalling again. Just ordered a scan gauge II from amazon, $109.00
    I'll read the codes and record them for future use then clear them.
    I guess i have to wait till i get my reader.

    Let me suggest pictures. Use a digital camera and photo all of the areas as you work on the car. This is not one of those cases where words work that well.

    So it sounds like you bought a wrecked Prius and are trying to rebuild it. What maintenance manuals are you using?

    I would recommend don't drive the car until the hybrid system is throughly checked out. Discharge the traction battery enough and you'll have another, difficult problem to solve ... recharging the traction battery.

    I wouldn't drive it, especially if you get the feeling of no power... you may be, as what bob wilson mentioned, draining your battery.

    Well Bob i been using a Bentely Publishers Toyota Repair & Maintenance 2004-2008. But its more like a maintenance manual then repair!
    As for checking the hybrid system out, this manual dosn't go into details, just covers basic stuff. Any suggestions?

    techinfo.toyota.com is a subscription website that will allow you access to the Toyota repair and tech training docs. I highly recommend that you pay $50 for a one-month subscription, looks like you will need that access once you determine DTCs (by the way, there's no guarantee that the Scan Gauge you are buying will in fact display the codes.)

    so how do i get the codes off the car if scan gauge II won't work?

    The best way is to have a Toyota dealer tech retrieve the codes, using the proprietary laptop or hand held tester. If you use an OBD-II reader that is supposed to be compatible with Toyota CAN, then it might work or might not depending upon which ECUs are producing codes.

    Well just got my scan gauge, I have 3 codes, P2111, 0U293, 0U100. The last 2 don't sound good! ECM and a battery ECU? I hate electrical problems they always drive me crazy! Car still starts but i know i have to fix it soon before the main battery dies.

    Ok i figured out the problem, the wires going to the transaxle are wired wrong, the person before me that had this car did some repairs to it. after looking at the wiring diagrams at Alldata, it appears to me that there backwards. Open the inclosed attached, can some one tell me what MMT,MMTG,OTM and OMTG stand for in the diagram. ( lower right, there inside the motor gen2 motor, and the plug is missing off that end. How do i match the colors to those wires?
    The Motor Gen2 Plug is an M10, Black Plug!
    I have all the correct wires now going to the M9 plug, Gray Plug!
    There is no information i can find on it, the dealer is no help as they want to sell me a new trans, no way, salvage item!
    Hey its worth a try, if its fried so be it, but this is no cheap item and worth a shot. 4 wires connected right or replace the trans.

I only have wires at that point. dealer has no info on the plug in transmission! I do have the plug in the pick! the connections are under that plug. the wires going to it are 2- blacks red and a green. Hope U can all follow that.

    The wiring diagram that you attached shows the wire colors and pin connections. Regarding the MG2 M10 connector that you asked about, it appears that the only ambiguity is that there are two black wires. I suggest that you will have to find the other end of those wires at the hybrid vehicle ECU and use an ohmmeter to differentiate between MMT and OMT.

    If your Alldata system does not provide info on the various hybrid vehicle ECU connectors, I suggest you try the Toyota website listed in my post #5, and download the electrical wiring diagram for your model year. That should allow you to determine wire colors and pin connections at the transaxle and the hybrid vehicle ECU.

    Further I do not recognize the second and third codes you listed in post #8. I do not think those are valid DTCs. DTC P2111 is Throttle Actuator Control System - Stuck Open. The suspect items include the throttle control motor circuit, the motor, the throttle body, or the throttle valve. You can look up this DTC in the Diagnostics section of the repair manual for the SFI System.

    You may have a typo in the last 2 codes. I couldn't find any OUxxx codes but there are valid UOxxx codes.
    UO100 - CAN communication problem between ECM and HV control ECU.
    UO293 - CAN communication problem between ECU and HV control ECU.
    It sounds like you have bad connection or wire issue.

    if the grounds were mixed up i still don't think that would give me U0100 or a U0293 error?

    I suggest you work on the throttle actuator problem first. Carefully examine the throttle body, the throttle motor and the wiring harness to the motor.

    Any accident damage? If so I suggest you repair that, then see whether the car starts and what other codes appear.
