I wonder how many people are willing to actually drive (or fly) all the way over to Detroit just to see the car for a few hours??
It's possible not everything would be in Detroit. I'm near the Toyota Arizona Proving Grounds northwest of Phoenix (hint, hint).
Some of us live fairly close to Detroit, at lease as compared to the country as a whole. I drive down there several times a year, so an extra trip is no big deal for me. Besides, I drive a Prius. Tom
What ... you don't think Toyota would do it the "GM - way" ? . . . private jets for the whole group ? That's always a good look, to congress BTW, there's a nice slot running in the L.A. Times talking about autoshow stuff: Up to Speed | Inside Ford's parallel parking universe | Los Angeles Times With the article, there's a note showing how GM used the bailout billions ... rebates and free intrest if you buy their stuff. Too bad that can't buy you (even) a 50mpg car from them ... much less during the last 5 to 10 years. And how 'bout that "EV" teaser badge ?
I'm sure PatSparks would appreciate a private jet from Australia to Detroit. I would ask that they swing by and pick me up along the way but it would be best if they dropped him off and then came over for me. No reason jet-pooling. Besides, there are other car shows. I'm really hoping the 2010 will be at the Chicago show. I'm so there! And perhaps the Milwaukee show as well. I get into the Milwaukee show for free when I volunteer at the Milwaukee Hybrid Group booth.
Well, if you decide to host an event in the NY metro area, I'd love the chance to go Prius Team (Ahem, NY Intnl. Auto Show @ the Jacob Javits Convention Center) Double
I am a huge fan of the upcoming Prius. My wife currently drives a 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid. We have a deposit down on the 2010, the first in Toledo Ohio. Would love to come see the new Prius before the show opens. Please Email me to let me know the details. Bob Laipply
Darell, they have the biggest auto show in the world there, I might just pop over in my private (Qantas) jet and take a peek. Could be an experience! Should I wear my Toyota jacket on the streets? I have a matching hat! Either I die of frost bite or get shot? tough choice.
Do we know if Toyota is going to show the 2010 Prius anywhere other than Detroit in this year's collection of auto shows?
Say. I LIKE being PatSparks. I think I'll keep using that trick! My 100% uneducated guess is that it would most certainly be showed everywhere after it is "introduced" at the NA auto show. The first reveal is always the big deal - and then they want as many people as possible to oogle it.
I think we should all celebrate that Toyota has recognized the PriusChat Power. I'm looking forward to living the experience vicariously through the reports from those of you who attend.
Hey, get your own personality! Mine is crap and now you want to pinch the only good bit!! I'd put money on Toyota having invitation only previews at local Toyota dealers and public showings at auto shows around the world. You keep up your nonsense Darell and I might just have to come and deal with you!
I was wondering will it just for US member only or it will include Canada member as well? If it is include Canadian member, I hope I will get pick since I'm currently live in Windsor now, which is just beside Detroit.
I don't know if this is related to this or not, but I got an e-mail from Toyota for http://www.ToyotoPriusPriority.com, which is a site where you can pre-order a 2010 for delivery in May or June, if you were invited. Prices are not listed, but of course you'll have an opportunity to approve the order once the price is set. It's not a "special edition". Other than getting in early, it says "[W]e’ve developed a great price on the 2010 Prius for this program." Of course, that's what the dealer always says.
Detroit: January 17–25, 2009; Cobo Center Washington, D.C.: February 4–8, 2009; Washington Convention Center Chicago: February 13–22, 2009; McCormick Place New York: April 10–19, 2009; Javits Convention Center
I'd like to know a little about how the invitations are chosen... There's a few really active Prius community members that I was saddened not to see at the Prius Connection Detroit event, and I fear that they may not have received an invitation as they don't post on PriusChat. (I understand that my invite came about a month after everyone else's, on the last day to register. Good thing I was able to check my email that day!) I have enough Prius lists to keep up with, that I just can't keep up with PC, and I've heard the same from some other owners...
MRV, I wondered the same thing as I received my invite after the initial deadline. I was honored to go, but did notice that some were missing. Again, many of us feel the other forums are equally hard to follow, so it's kind of a pick-and-choose and stick to it. Many of us left the Y! Groups (mostly) for similar reasons.
Danny e-mailed (assuming the address is still active) those on the list but never replied as a last ditch effort to get them to respond Prius Team so we really were trying to reach them.
