Please use this thread to discuss the site-wide announcement. Toyota Motor Corporation USA (aka Prius Team) have begun to extend some very special invitations to selected members of PriusChat for a unique opportunity to see the 2010 Prius up close before they hit the dealerships. The first group will be attending the Detroit introduction in January. Other events are not yet set in stone and will be announced at a later time. Some of you may have gotten some inquiries for personal information and thought it was spam, it is not. At this time we're not yet sure how many people will be invited as this is up to Prius Team to determine, but they have been working with the staff and moderators of PriusChat to coordinate the invites. This is a fantastic activity that we're thrilled to be a part of, especially in these difficult economic times for the automotive industry.
I signed up but never heard anything....so far. Wasn't really sure if it was on the up and up, glad to hear it is.
The sneak peaks posted by the Prius Team were originally suspected of being bogus trolling. In the same way, any messages you have received from the Prius Team might be received with skepticism but we can assure you they are legit. They have been working through Danny, Evan, Tideland Prius and me and might even invite you to contact us if you question the legitimacy.
Danny, I'm interested in working through you on an invitation. I work in the same corporate park as Southeast Toyota; I'd love to get invited to an SET event.
Toyota, you want my opinion, email me. I have been a loyal Toyotahead since '93!!! I would love to help you out!!! I live in Los Angeles Let me know, PM me!! Pat KK6PD
Somethings working through me too. oh, never mind, that was lunch............. Pretty cool to be a member of prius chat, huh?
Danny, I want to go. please. As you know, my beloved 2005 Prius (which I had for 4 years and 50,000 miles) was totaled recently. I want to buy a 2010 Prius and would love to get a chance to put in my two cents. I have had a string of toyota's since 1979 (starting with a 1980 Toyota Corolla, Camry 5sp, Camry Wagon, Sienna, Prius) and aside from extensive test driving experience, I really want to go. Thanks
Let me try to clarify some things. 1) Toyota has decided who to invite already. While a few later invites might go out later this post was not intended as a solicitation for those who wish to go. You can post your interest if you wish, but I would not expect it to bear fruit. 2) The announcement was made since it is inevitable that information that someone is going to something special. We wanted to preempt any false information or confusion.
Ahh what an anniversary present for my 2005 which will turn over 100,000 mi this week. I sold one of the first to arrive here in late 2000 so I'd love to be included in the launch of the Gen 3. Count me in...hopefully. EDIT: Hello, earf to dumbass, read your notifications on time then you might have replied in time.
I wasn't sure how to say that while remaining tactful. But as we all know, tact is not something Evan is concerned with so: yeah, what he said.
SET events and spy shots are nice. But what I'd like to know is when would a 2010 Prius likely show up at my local dealership? When I bought my 2007, it was in July (07), and it appeared that the 2008 models were just around the corner. So is August of 2009 a reasonable time estimate? Or it being a new generation of Prius, does that move it later? I don't want to start getting excited too soon....
Oh, dear. I thought the PM was spam, so I just put him on ignore. Also, while the 2010 Prius sounds great, I'm not interested in it since my 2006 Prius is still running just fine.
I hope to have a lot of that information while I am up in Detroit. Everything I'm hearing leads me to believe that the 2010 Prius will be on sale before the beginning of summer 2009. Now, availability, on the other hand...
Is it true that there may be more invitations sent out to members to other events, like maybe (and I am speculating here) dealer previews in local dealerships or auto shows? As I said I know nothing of other events so I'm just speculating. There is no point begging or asking for a spot though, I don't think Toyota used best beggar or asker as a criteria for selection for the Detroit event. I have no idea what they used actually.
