Waiting for my salsa red to arrive next week. I am so excited that I am going to be a Prius owner too! Seems the price is going down...

Wooo, congratulations! I was at the dealership today(actually, been to 3 of them) to buy the car and the best price I can get is $300 off retail price and I have to wait for a month. Mind if I ask how you got that deal? By the way, where do you live? I live in Pittsburgh. Location might matter.

    thanks a lot.

We got our deal at Mark Miller Toyota, Salt Lake, Utah. We first compared the price by getting quotes from different dealers (through edmunds.com). It seems to me the price from the Internet Department is usually lower than going to the dealership. Maybe they assume you have done the research on the internet and have better knowledge than the people who just walk in.

The people from Mark Miller Toyota were very honest, they told us their buttom line up front, which is $22540 for a salsa red with package #4 and carpets. The MSRP is $23776. There was a guy also purchasing a Prius while we were there signing paper, he said he could've gotten a better deal ($50 less) from another dealership. But he ended up coming back to Mark Miller Toyota because of the openess and honesty here. We felt the same way.

There were 5 Prii sitting on the lot March 19, the day we bought ours, 3 of them already claimed for. We were told our Prius would arrive between April 8 to 15, so the waiting time is not too bad. The shorter wait time and the discount over MSRP are refletions of the increased production. Hope to see more people drive Prius!

thanks veyr much for the reply. after tried edmunds, I found out there is no dealer in my zip code which is 15237. I guess I'll have to try with my local dealers face to face.

thanks again. Hope I can get one in the very near future.

Hey Kyle, is that your dealership? Or more accurately, the dealership you work at?

Mark Miller is about an other 20 miles north of Karl Malone Toyota. They are an Excelent Dealer and have talked to me in the past about working their but I aready drive drive 40 miles one way to work. I hope that you can bring your car down to Karl Malone Toyota for your service. I know it will be worth your drive. Ask for Carl and tell him that you wan't Kyle to work on it and if you have any questions I will come out and talk to you and help answer any questions that you may have.

And if you have a package without an alarm, he'll turn it on for you.

Boy, I wish I lived in Salt Lake City...where buying and servicing a car actually sounds like a humane experience.

Kyle, have you met any Boston techs at school?

Only one anti-theft alarm. All the cars physically have it, some packages have it disabled. To test: roll down window, power off car, open/close driver door, lock door, wait 30 seconds. Open door from inside.
If you have SKS, I believe you will also have the anti-theft alarm enabled.

    Hi all.
This may or may not be relevant, but I purchased and took delivery same day, a new Prius here in Australia at A$1100 below our RRP. This was a very good deal, as nobody was moving from RRP, and we have a 3 month wait at most dealers for a car. We only have a choice of 2 models...Base and I-Tech.
The I-Tech pack is A$8100 dearer, and includes Sat-Nav, extra airbags, stability control system, JBL sound system, the smart key system etc.
Our RRP for the base model is A$36500 plus on-road costs etc, which bump the drive-away price to around A$38300.
    Regards, Sleeka from Australia.

I bought mine from Brent Brown Toyota in Provo. Excellent sales people, especially for a mega dealership, list price+$500 (July 2004).

I did a factory-order from Tony Divino Toyota (Ogden, UT) on 4/12/05. They matched the best offer I could find (Mark Miller, $600 below MSRP for a package 6). The best Larry H. Miller offered us was $200 below MSRP. The best Menlove (Bountiful, UT) offered us was $500 below MSRP.
