The camera for night vision or pre-collision system is where we guessed in the sneak peek thread.

What is the square sensor on the rear view mirror?

Does anyone reckon that these pictures and videos are actually released by Toyota themselves who released it by making up a name "bossdowner" so that they don't have to release it "officially". That way, they can avoid any "official" unveilings before the Detroit show so they can get a taste of the responses and opinions from people and make any last minute adjustments to the production version.

It would be too late to make changes now before it is unveiled.

I still think there is going to be another hybrid unveiled in Detroit or the show after.
No sun roof in a Prius but would there be in a people mover van, you call them mini vans?
The headlights in the sneak previews are different to the headlights in this car, taller.

I think Toyota have another car to show America.

I think the square sensor on the rear view mirror is the light sensor for the autodimming mirror... My VW Polo has one. When the car following you has a beam that's blinding you, the mirror automatically dims. It uses one sensor on the front (as seen in this picture) and one in the back, to compare the light intensity.

PS: this is my first post in this forum so hello everybody and please excuse me if I make mistakes writing in english because it's not my primary language!

    My guesses:

    1) Parking button. So the pedal on the previous prius is replaced with this nice button!
    2) MODE: To change between AUTO, MANUAL, ??
    3) Air flow direction to the head ??
    4) Air vent power
    5) Maybe something related to the upper display, to adjust time, change information screens, etc ??

As for the navigation buttons, I can't read any of them :( But I gess there will be things like CD, AUX, FM, AM, NAVI, etc...

    What do you think?

patspark - there will be 2 headlights in Prius - normal, projector lights and LED lights. Thats why you see different headlights...

Just got a look at the video and can't wait to see the car in person. I really want one, but with only 101k on my 2004, I want to get another 100k on it before moving on. By then, the plug in will be available for sure!

Just one word of caution about rear disk brakes, they were available on Prius outside of North America. By no means an exhaustive list but other differences that have separated the North American Prius from other market vehicles:

    • HC converter - NHW11
    • thermos bottle - NHW20
    • fold down rear seat - NHW11
    • EV button - NHW20
    • rear disk brakes - NHW20, NHW11(?)
I would not read too much into the apparent absence of exhaust pipe. Sometimes commercials 'arrange' stuff. Like photography of food, what you see in the picture might not quite resemble that paper wrapped, nondescript object handed to you by a minimum wage worker from a fast-food drive-in line. But there is one interesting thought, the quality of Prius exhaust.

Prius exhaust is exceptionally low in poisonous combustion by-products including carbon monoxide. If sufficiently clean, there may be no need to run the exhaust to the end of the body. But this is unlikely, I prefer the "art" hypothesis.

Wishful thinking but a final, low-pressure turbine to drive the rear wheels at highway speeds would be nice. <sigh> Part of the exhaust is heated by the final catalytic converter and normally dumped overboard.

the second headlight looks like the current one but then with a projection light in it!
maybe toyota will upgrade the current prius and sell that next to the new one
Or this is from the 2e hybrid maybe the matrix?
some kind of mpv or so

ok so if the overhead controls which clearly shows sun being obscured on the rightside which would be either open symbol for sunroof... or could it be gradient controlled glass. where we can control tint??

ok, bit of stretch here. but lets face it the frame at 2:01 with circular controls. if looking at it clockwise from 12 noon top shows off on the left, sun half exposed... for rocker button control of sunroof. moving clockwise, dome light passenger, bottom probably, garage door opener, then driver dome light?

    1) Parking button
    2) MODE
    3) Indirect heat/cool (just look at the Lexus models if you want to know how that icon looks like. It has an arrow with "holes" in it)
    4) Fan speed
    5) no idea

Nice job, that looks like it's very close if not dead on. I think you can be pretty sure about the Tune/Volume knobs too.

Interesting that nobody has a clue about the top left button/lights.

It's from YouTube, but with some post-processing in Photoshop.
