Hi gang! First I wanted to thank you for all of the wonderful information that you post on this board. You have really helped me learn a great deal about my Prius while I was anxiously awaiting its arrival (I was one of the lucky ones- I only had to wait 3 weeks for the exact color and package that I wanted plus I got it for $200 less than MSRP). Anyway, I've been lurking for two weeks which was when I discovered a post while trying to figure out if there was an alternative to installing an XM radio add-on unit to the Prius (because the dash is just so beautiful). I was pleased to find a post (I think by Evan Fusco) about the integrated XM. So, I've ordered and received my unit from Coastaltech (they were great!) and I've got an appointment at BestBuy tomorrow to get it installed. Plus, I got a free year's XM service because of the Coastaltech deal that's going on right now. I've driven about 50 miles already (I have a 47-mile one-way commute) to work and I can't get over how much I love this car. I've taken a few colleagues, friends, and neighbors for rides already. The thing that I love most is that this car fits my geeky-ness AND my political views (cleaner air, less reliance on foreign oil, transition to alternate fuels). I am so happy! I can also tell that trying to get better and better MPG's is going to be a sport for me (so far, my computer reads 49.1 MPG average - which doesn't seem bad for a brand new Pri). After this post, I'm going to sign on to Green Hybrid to track my MPG's for the world to see. Thanks for all the great info and I look forward to being a regular visitor/member! Cheers, Rey 2005 Millineum Silver, Package #4 (AM) Soon to have Coastaltech XM
Congratulations and Welcome to the family! I'm curious what part of the country your in? Seeing as you were able to get a #4....i'm going to guess you are not in Southern Calif. We also got below MSRP ($700). I wish I had little extra $$ laying around to by goodies but with Taxes due and a new car i'm a lil strapped right now!
Hey, I'm in Central Pennsylvania. I was down in Miami, FL for a visit right before I put down a security deposit (I actually put down the security deposit over the phone as I left Kendall Toyota in Miami). The dealer in Miami was really bringing their price down for me on a package #6, but I couldn't afford all the extra goodies as well. They could have obtained a #4 but I would have had to wait 30-90 days and I wasn't' willing to do that. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(bshef\";p=\"77671)</div>
Whoops! Sorry if I wasn't clear - I bought it in PA. They were really easy to work with - they definitely weren't slimy like the Florida guys. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(bshef\";p=\"77682)</div>
