Extra connectors in Hatch?

While going over my trunk space in anticipation of upgrading sound, I noticed two white connectors - - one looks to be low voltage/signal - has 8 positions, 5 of them filled. The other looks like a more beefy two-pin power connector.

Anybody know what these are for?

On the same topic, is the "Panasonic Brake Supply" an additional battery pack?

    Thanks!

My 2001 is different, but there are extra connectors at the taillights reputed to be for trailers' taillights. Odd for a "no-towing" vehicle, yes?

The Panasonic brake supply is a bank of (charged) capacitors that will run your hydraulic brake fluid pump if fluid pressure is low and no other power source seems available. It will just sit there, until such an unusual situation may arise.

    Guy,
What year car is it, and exactly where are you seeing these connectors?

    It is a 2005.

The connectors are only visible if you remove the black storage box above the spare tire. One is about an inch long and slightly less than a quarter inch wide. The other is nearly square - probably a half inch by 3/8ths.

They are located in about the middle of the rear wall of the hatch space.

OK, I understood you to mean there was an unused connector. You are saying you found a harness junction. From the wiring diagram, it sounds like that might be J34, but the diagram is a messy sketch so it's hard to tell.

Are all the wires to it white with black stripe? If so, that's all ground.

No, they are "extra" connectors. Wireing to the 8-pin one has several different colors. Only 5 of the 8 locations are populated.

Then, it could be the connector joining wire harness BF1 and BL1.

BF1 has connections to the fuel tank stuff, BL1 has ABS speed sensor.

What are the colors of the wires?

OK, I think I found these connectors. On my 2005 BC version they are used. Perhaps they are for the SKS door antenna and oscillators. Here's a picture from inside the trunk on my car.
