Hey, I read in the manual that the light will come on for 3 secs, then flash for 12 secs when the odo reads 7,200kms (4,500mi) then stay on after 8,000km (5,000mi) in IG-ON mode. So far, I haven't seen the light I'm already at 7,600kms. Is this a US only feature?
Where did you read that? It is true. I just hit 4,500 and it blinks then goes out. The Prius is going in next week for it 5k check-up anyway, I think that is what the light is for.
The MAINT REQ light is a US only feature - the NCF confirms this. Mine's on, but I'm running synth so I don't fear letting it slide till I find a good price for 4 qts of full synth.
Hey folks, i just got my oil changed last night at 4800 miles. I thought the dealership would have reset it for me. I called and talked to the prius tech guy there today and he told me that I could bring it in. He also told me how to get rid of the blink on my own. I haven't tried it but it seems simple enough. power down, hold down the ODO button at the same time hit power without touching the brakes there should be a counter on the display that shows a series of dashes. hold the ODO button down until all of the dashes go away and it shows zeros all the way across. then, power down and start up completely to make sure it's gone. the guy told me to make sure i keep the ODO button held down the whole time though. has anyone else tried this? If this doesn't work when i try it in the next couple of hours then i will post a correction - stay tuned.
As if, we're supposed to read the "Owner's Manual." What do they thiink we are idiots! OK. I'll admit. I just had this same experience today and had the dealership show me the method mentioned above to reset it. Hey I thought these suckers could go on a 7,500 mi cycle like the Highlander. Ryan
update from yesterday's post: it works but i had to hit power twice to get the dashes to show up. if anyone else tries it make sure you hold the ODO button down and hit power until you get the amber dashes on the heads up display. rawk on
Question: I have a new 2005 Prius. In the Nav System Owner's Manual it describes how to program maintenance items using the MFD. Do we really have to manually program this data, or does the Prius automatically show required maintenance at pre-set intervals? It seems ridiculous that Toyota would have left this to the owner to program. Thanks, Brent
You have to program it. Actually, you could use the slots for anything you want. Much of the stuff doesn't apply to the Prius anyway.
