I am the new owner of a 2009 Prius Pkg 6 Silver Pine Prius. I can't say enough good about it. The only thing I guess I could say I was disappoined at first was that when I ordered it, I found out later, that I wasn't really ordering it. What I mean was that my car was not built to order but rather one I had to decide if I wanted because my name came up on the long waiting list but the color was not what I had ordered and I had ordered a Touring. After 16 weeks of waiting and and 4 different phone calls saying "a" car had come in but wasn't exactly what I had ordered and did I want it anyway. I finally decided to accept a "non touring" package 6 and a different color. I have come to accept and even like/enjoy the color and I guess even glad I didn't get the Touring option. Over all, I have to say it is the best car I have ever owned. Very high tech.
Welcome and enjoy your new car. Be sure to read through the stickies here at priuschat... also check out the owner's guides at John's Stuff - Toyota Prius and more
Congrats on your new car! I really love the SPM color...what color did you order originally? Honestly, I had a really hard time picking just one color b/c I liked so many of them. Touring was never really an option we considered.
That's how all retail new car buying works in the US: nothing is made to your order, it's up to the dealer to find what you want, or wait for it.
I love mine too! I took delivery of "ruby" (my little red gem) on Friday and I'm really enjoying this car. Geek heaven! And a nice ride, too. Looking forward to learning the hypermiling techniques. Got 42.6 MPG on the first tank from the dealer (without really trying) and am at about 48 on the MFD so far for the second. Amazing. I actually have a picture of the MFD showing over 70 mpg shortly after filling up (around 13 miles in to the tank).
I wish I could say the same. I ordered my red package 2 with grey interior but got bisque instead. Kept trying to talk myself into loving the car and color but gave up after 7 months in August and been trying to sell it ever sense. No one seems to want it even though it only has 3000 miles. I wish I would of said no and waited until I got what what I wanted. Oh well what's a life savings anyway?
I had bisque leather two cars ago, I chose grey fabric in my last car, and my Ruby red Prius came with bisque leather. I don't mind it, though I know I will have to be careful about cleaning the driver seat at least once a year so that it doesn't LOOK grey when I'm ready to sell it 5 or 6 years from now! Now, I just need to buy a longer coat since Ruby doesn't have heated seats. I'm sorry you hate the color so much that you are selling the car.
We LOVE our Prius too. We usually drive less than 1k miles per month but this guy has over 2.5k on it already. It pays to wait. We ordered ours 5/28 and they predicted a wait of 18 to 20 weeks. After we'd waited 16 weeks we got a call from a different salesman at the dealership. He apologized that we'd had to wait so long and mentioned that we could have a used Prius right away. But the lowest mileage used one had 30k miles, was a package 4 and the dealership wanted $30k! We waited 2-3 more weeks and got our brand new package 6 for $28.8k.
