Hi guys. Sorry to be a noob. Could somebody tell me the difference between TRIP and DISP? Thanks in advance.

There is absolutely no reason to place the shifter there, as long as it still has the CVT transmission...That center console is weird looking and a waste of space, imho.

DISP toggles the display on the instrument cluster. Typically, it involves the odometer and trip odometer (A and B). In other Toyota cars, it may also include the outside temperature gauge, instant FE readout, Avg FE, Tank FE, E/T, Avg Speed and Dist. to Empty.

TRIP is unique to the Prius. My wager is that it'll control the Energy Monitor and Consumption Screen (formerly the INFO button).

However, I'll be surprised if the buttons were reversed on the Prius. i.e. the TRIP is the odo/trip odo toggler and the DISP is everything else, as that'll confuse some people used to the DISP button on other Toyota/Lexus vehicles.

I wonder if Toyota is reconsidering the "first showing" at the Detroit auto show. I suspect the Detroit auto show may be a wake. ;)

I still have no desire to replace either of the perfectly good '07s that we have now, but the MFD location is an improvement. My concern was that it would go away for Prius that aren't NAV equipped, which would have been disappointing. But not only is it still there, it's even closer to the driver's line of sight! They must have realized that we drive around watching the screen and decided to do us a favor.

Overall it looks like a very slick car. Bring on the EPA estimates!

It wouldn't be a replacement for Rudy, but my DH, JavaJunki, is really quite taken with the photos of the 2010, and it is possible that his car, the venerable Buick, will need to be replaced by then...

I like it. :) My wife is one lucky girl... She'll be getting this, since I got the 2009. Doh! :) It's all good, I'm sure she'll let me be the driver. :)

    Hi Tbert,

I could not agree more. I think the whole change is a sucumbing to the marketing department to bring the car away from practicality, and over to boy-racer fantasies. Very negative overall, I think.

Just like wheel well bulges have become design lanquage for powerful cars, when they originally a safety add-on legally required in California, the center shifter is somehow being used as an artifice to imply superior control. I reiterate - ARTIFICE.

I also think this is a bad buisness decision. Because boy racers buy cheap, and modify. That is not the Prius. Its expensive up-front and with lots of built-in value that take lots of low-speed miles to realise. The people with experience will - the people that buy the prius - will see through these changes - and buy a USED Prius.

    Dumb-dumb-dumb DUMB!

I think I'll like the new Prius for the new cool stuff and technology. However, the rest is going to have to grow on me. To be honest, I like the look of the 04-09 better .... at least for now. :)

Well, the sideshots are obviously compressed horizontally (hopefully!) making it look like a subcompact.

The closest I'll get to a 2010 is renting one next year, I've got a lot do with this 09.

well, unless given VERY COMPELLING reasons, my next car will plug in. so i be waiting for the late 2010's i guess...

right now, i can use my Zenn as a 2nd car, but realize the range is very limited and a change in my situation may require me to change. (i rent, so moving is a possibility) also with the jobs market the way it is, i wouldnt rule out a job change...although not likely.

but then again, there were many things i considered unlikely 6 months ago

I like how the energy and Consumption screen information are now moved to the display under the windshield.

I like the sportier look too. From the side view, the angles are pointing forward.

Hmmph. "Superior control" means a nice tight seat belt. Just ask
    these guys.
    .
Now, how do we teach whoever's feeding in these pictures the
meaning of "aspect ratio"? This stuff looks like CRAP. I don't
think oval wheels would work particularly well.

Maybe it was intentional, who knows. If you think about it, how do you get the aspect ratio wrong? If you are converting or importing video to a computer, most software would not get the aspect ratio wrong... unless it was changed in the setting.

The leaks are fun. However I am hoping Toyota has done something to solve the problem I have with the dash light being reflected up into windhield at night. Also, to those of you who wear trifocals, do you find that they refract and magnify that type of light in a most annoying way?

Looks good to me!! Now my wife and I just have to agree on a color. (She doesn't like the idea of us having twin cars but we like the same color).

I wonder what fool I can dump my Intrepid off on to make room for two of these?
