Well my 09 Spectra Blue Mica Package 2 Prius is on her way from the factory, and I'll have her in about 10 days! I have always named my cars, something related to how I feel about them, and this is no exception as she's my first new car that I'm purchasing myself. The name I want for her is Soledad. Named after my favorite actress, but also in Spanish it means "Solitude", perfect for a Prius IMHO (especially spectra blue mica...I've never seen one in person). I am not a very superstitious person, but Soledad Miranda died in a car crash in 1970. Is it asking for trouble to name a car after someone who died in a car crash? Have any of you named your Prius? If so, what, and why? inkybrown
I don't name my cars. Only if you're very superstitious would you have to worry about the name you choose. With thousands dying every year in car crashes, almost any name would be bad luck, wouldn't it?
My Prius is Carmine - which means read, and after over 2 months wait this CAR is MINE! Soledad Obrien is a host on the morning Today show, right? So you can name your Prius Soledad, it is a nice name.
Just like naming your newborn, we the bystanders have no say because it's pure personal choice. However; when you're in doubt with the one you are tinkering, don't drag on and just pick another one instead. Nobody knows your Prius was named anyway.
Ours is named Sprout...it just made sense being a green car and sitting next to our Silver Pine Mica Sienna (like a little baby car LOL), plus the green technology in the Prius and it's just a cute name for a cute car. Pick a name you like...I don't believe in superstitions unless it's naming a race dog, in which case I'll never name a dog after one of my own pets.
What a coincidence! I named mine to Prius too...and its surname is Toyota (like a Japanese name) because it was indeed borned in Japan. :focus:
Think of all the unnamed cars driving around ! Oh the humanity (or is it carmanity?) ! I don't name my cars, or my iPod, or my VCR, or my bicycles ... even though I love them all. But, that's just me. if it works for you ...
My 08 Spectra Blue Package 6 is named Charlie because he lives with a 09 Magnetic Grey Hybrid Camry named Lucy -- as in Lucy and Charlie Brown of peanuts fame. I know Lucy is in love with Schroeder in the cartoon, but she's always after Charlie Brown on the baseball field. (Didn't think Schroeder exactly fit my beautiful Spectra Blue.) We always name our cars too!
I prefer to let my cars tell me their names... some do, some don't. Our Prius told me his name is Rudy. I don't know why. I don't know what it means. But, it's his name.
