Hi Guys, Again, great forum. Quick question: Is the Bluetooth built into the JBL radio? I.e. If I replace the radio with an aftermarket one......do I lose my Bluetooth? Or is the Bluetooth modul completely separate and simply channeled thru the JBL amplifier? Thx, Jon
i have also been told that it is part of the mfd. the repair manual specifically states, that if the bluetooth has gone bad, you are to replace the mfd. the bluetooth being in the display screen is more or less confirmed in another thread, i found out at the amplifier is needed for the blue tooth, and it sounds like you cannot have a jbl amp without a jbl radio, and you cannot have a jbl radio without the jbl amplifier. so those 3 things, the blue tooth, the amp, and the radio, are dependent on each other.. if there was a way to install an aftermarket radio, and have the prius consider it a "cd changer" or "sateliite radio" , you would be able to keep the stock radio going
just remembered i posted the mfd list a while ago courtesy Michael O. Nouri @ xvipers.com toyota prius multifunction display master list by rigor ------------------------------------------------------------ 86110-47081 86110-47080 base model, no gps, no bluetooth no jbl no back up camera 86110-47070 9 SPEAKER JBL WITH BACK CAMERA AND GPS OPTION 86110-47210 9 SPEAKER JBL WITH BACK CAMERA 86110-47220 9 SPEAKER JBL WITH BACK CAMERA AND GPS OPTION 86110-47230 BACK UP CAMERA AND 6 SPEAKER SYTEMS ONLY FOR 06-09 UNITS
Thanks for the replies. I read somewhere ( priuschat.com/forums/audio-electronics/10228-bypassing-jbl-amp-without-removing-bluetooth-functionality) that you could keep the JBL amp alive for bluetooth but not for stereo? Thx, Jon
