I just came back from a 160 mile trip today into the foot fill of the Pacific NW Cascade Mts. The temperature was in the mid 50s; am on my second tank of gas (have had the car for only a week now), did lots of up/down grades with 50% open straight/flat areas, speed in the 50s, and tank average is 50.2 mpg. My first tank was 44. I understand it will get better but that sounds too good to be true. I’ll be tickled if it just stays above 50.
Ya the temp stays in the 50's and you and I will be teaching Salmon how to walk up stream to spawn in the fall. You had better pray for mid 30's and rain. Lots of rain. I would gladly get mpgs in the 40's and have normal (for the PNW) weather. We are in trouble.
So, so jealous. I commute 5 miles each way to work in temperatures usually in the teens, and if I didn't take the occasional longer trip, I might not break 40mpg average. I can't wait for summer!
Really great mileage! I am on my second tank and avg is 48.3ish. We have had one day I have seen 50 degress when I was out. I think we will both improve on our mileage this summer. Wanted to mention to all new owners to check air pressure. I checked mine 10 days into ownership and all were at 28.5. It seems the dealer did not do anything to check the car out before I drove away. Hopefully their service will improve as more and more of these wonderful cars are bought. jh90206
The 2 things my husband immediately checked were oil level and tire pressure. He's the one who takes care of that stuff I wanted to adjust tire pressure to 42-40 for gas mileage purposes, they were a little low. Tire pressure seems to be something they forget.
