This morning I passed an H2 on my way to work with the AZ plates "TAX LOOP". I suppose it's bad enough to drive one of these beheamoths, and that there are tax loopholes which allow people to deduct their entire cost, but to gloat about it on a license plate was a bit disturbing.

I tried to snap a pic w/ my camera phone, however I couldn't get close enough w/o making it obvious as to what I was trying to do.

    Just thought I'd share.

I think perhaps taking a picture with your camera phone while driving would have been asking for an accident :). But I'm one of those people who can't even talk on the phone while driving.

I find it ironic that folks who purchase a Crew Cab pickup or giant SUV due to certain tax loopholes then have the nerve to get snotty or angry at a Prius owner while gassing up.

Personally I find it a bit humorous :)

On the other hand, the driver might have been bragging that there is ONE good thing about the H2.

Other plates considered but not applicable include:
    GDTOWING
    GRNDCLRNC
    EFFICIENT
    SMLPNS
    SLFCNFDNS
    NEEDED
    MIDLFCRSS
    NOEGO
    GAYCUPL

Gas taxes for certain. I imagine registration won't be fun either - especially if states start implementing taxes by weight or economy.

Yeah... they can write off an obscene amount with the H2. Something like 30K or the like.

This morning, I had the displeasure of getting caught behind on of these behemoths with the personalized license plate “HMMMâ€. I spent the rest of my commute amusing myself by wondering what the driver was contemplating with such a plate.

    “HMMM… Why am I spending $350 / month on gasoline?â€
“HMMM… What can I pawn to support my monster truck?â€
“HMMM… Just how high are gasoline prices going to go?â€

    Alright.
Now I'm just disappointed that no one has commented on my H2 license plates. I had a good time coming up with them. Or if the were too obscure, I'll spell them out:
GDTOWING => "Good Towing" because they're not
GRNDCLRNC => "Ground Clearance" because the H1 had a much better clearance
EFFICIENT => "Efficient" because they're not
SMLPNS => "Small Penis" because most people buy them to ompensate (not the Prius/H2 owners, of course)
SLFCNFDNS => "Self Confidence" because anyone with actualself confidence would be just fine in an understated vehicle (not the Prius/H2 owners, of course)
NEEDED => "Needed" because . . . well, you know
MIDLFCRSS => "Mid Life Crisis" goes with SMLPNS and SLFCNFDNS
NOEGO => "No Ego" see above
GAYCUPL => "Gay Couple" because the thought of a flamboyant gay couple in an H2 struck me as funny
ERTHFRDLY => "Earth Friendly" because the H2 pollutes like nothing else

Sorry Tony I haven't been following this post in awhile. Actually, I was ROFL about SMLPNS and GAYCUPL.

If we apply Truth In Advertising to license plates, I suppose every Hummer out there would have SMLPNS. And I think we should all get together to *buy* an H2 to donate to a *very* flamboyant stereotypical cute gay couple.

They could have a grand old time driving it around a place like Vegas, LA, or especially Dallas Ft Worth. I guarantee once it made the national news, you'd see a flood of H2 on used car lots.

To quote Shrek from Shrek1 after Donkey led him to the giant castle that tiny Lord Farquaad had:

"Do you think he's compensating for something?"

I saw an H2 towing a trailer once... was so shocked I nearly caused an accident. So were the people around me. That could have been a disaster.

Oh, and that midlife crisis one describes my stepdad perfectly. Has gone through 8 cars in 4 years, most above the $50K mark. :pukeright:

Those Hummers are everywhere in my area (Dallas). A friend of mine just bought one for hios wife for her 50th birthday and they are, for all practical purposes, folks who live "in the city" and could do 90% of their travels on a Vespa. These people have lost their minds.

On a lighter note, I came across a site for "left leaning" bumper stickers, quite a few of which would be great for the Prius. "Draft SUV Drivers First" had a certain ring to it:) Browse them for a chuckle:)

I got word that I should have my 05 Salsa pkg 6 by this time next week. I had to go out of state to get it, but it was a good decision.

There's a bright yellow H2 in my work parking lot that I see all the time - at least he's honest with his vanity plate:
