Hi All! Just thought I'd pop in and say g'day! I made it to Oz for my pre-vacation work week in the office here. Weather's gorgeous - not too hot or humid. Quite a nice light show (thunderstorm) last night over the ocean which I got to watch from my hotel room balcony. And! I scored a Prius for my rental car! Yay! Still getting used to driving on the other side of the road but I'm happy to report I haven't caused any major damage yet. Also, I just want to say that GPS is a gift from the gods. Cheers!
Hey Mox! Be careful on that other side of the road, and duck when you see a boomerang. Maybe you can get a digeridoo-sounding Prius horn. Or smuggle back some vegemite. Did you meet the original Captain Kangaroo? Have we thoroughly reduced Australia to a stereotype? Not if we don't also ask you about the coriolis effect. Happy Trails!
Is there a big "Keep Left" sticker on the dashboard? Our rental in NZ had that. Have fun and keep left.
Enough of this trivial stuff, lets get to the important and serious stuff. When you flush the toilet or drain the sink, does the water swirl in the opposite direction?
Hello All! Armi Dillo actually slept quite soundly on the flight over to Auckland. And got exit row seating from SFO to AKL and from AKL to Brisbane! Boy does Armi love that leg room. Haven't had a muffin yet but I have had a lamginton. They're quite yummy. Thanks Spectra! Great set of stereotypes. My coworkers will love it. Nope, no sticker! I've sort of adopted the driving philosophy of "if it feels unnatural, do it". That's saved me a couple of times in parking lots where I tend to drift right. Maybe after I unload a certain WeePrii. Whenever the hell that will be. Looks like my vacation in NZ just got shifted by a week. I'll be in Oz longer than I originally planned. If I told you "no" would you be crushingly disappointed? I'm in the Gold Coast area at the moment. Will be in Brisbane for the weekend then probably back in GC again. I love nebulousity. That's my new word of the day.
I'm still here! Here's a current picture of me after work one day: I haven't had the chance to meet up with Max yet but I've run into (figuratively) a few of his friends driving around the Gold Coast. Particularly Surfers Paradise. Especially this past Sunday when the Indy 500 was in town.
There used to be a barbie-type doll available in OZ called Feral Cheryl. She had tatoos, and peircings and really cool hair. I don't think there was a feral Moxie version.
G'day Moxie, ow ya goin'? Did ya av a good trip ova? If ya got the time ya betta catch some rays out on the sands there on the Gold Coast n enjoy ya lil self up in Briz-Vegas. If you want to look like a local don't drink Fosters, only poms drink that crap, in Queensland they cant spell beer so grab a XXXX. (Pronounced Four Ex) If you want the best beer in Australia then you need to ask for a Coopers Ale (from South Oz). How have you been coping with dodging them roos in the main streets and all them mad koalas dropping from the trees in the parks? There is a savage spider or snake around every corner and crocodiles live in bathtubs up there in Queensland so be careful. And most of all watch out for them cane toads, which is what Queenslanders are called as well as Banana Benders. You could find a few cockroaches or New South Welshmen about the place so far south in Queensland but they are pretty harmless, just be careful of the Mexicans who wander up from Victoria, scary bunch eh. If you bump into a South Aussie say G'day Crow Eater and anyone from Western Oz is a Sand Groper. Tasmanians are easy to spot, some have two heads while others have a scar where one head was removed, pretty harmless lot but don't mention Martin Bryant or Port Arthur, they are a little touchy. A shame you won't get into the best state, South Oz, because the people there are the best! South Australia is such a great state it is the only state that all the other main land states like and can't stop sharing borders with it. For all you unfortunate people who haven't been to Australia, the toilets here don't swirl, they just whoosh away the waste without swirling. Get a Caroma toilet set and see for yourself, you won't find a better dunny anywhere. Also the further north you go in Australia the less likely the water in the sink is to swirl too.
