Have used a toll transponder for years on toll roads in northern VA. The one I have works fine thru the Prius windshield. I want to mount it behind the mirror on the windshield on the right side. Will it hurt to mount it on that black etched material on the windshield at the top. What is that black etched material for? Thanks in advance for you help. Bill Compton
The black material on the window behind the mirror is there simply as a sun block. My transponder works through it with no problem.
I've read on the yahoo group that someone keeps it in the glove compartment. I'm going to give it a shot when I get my car next week (but with change handy).
Got a chance to test the theory this morning. Sure enough, with the transponder in the upper shelf of the upper glove compartment, the toll gate lifted without problem for me this morning. I am going to leave it there for now, as opposed to sticking it on the windshield.
