First recorded remark in history regarding mileage was made by Christopher Columbus when first sighting land. He said, "Over 3000 miles on one galleon, how about that!"
Those were not large vessels at all, they were tiny and frankly I would not want to take one out onto the Great Lakes, much less the Atlantic.
Wow! Flashback to "The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show!" (Now I need to think of puns for "hybrid" and "Prius").
3000 on a gallon?? thats nothing!! a youth in australia put a message in a bottle and it was picked up 8500 miles away... obtw... it was a PINT bottle
Just heard Steve Fossett completed his flight around the world on one tank of fuel. He couldn't trust his fuel gauge (either). An admirable achievement. Of course, he didn't have to stop at red lights...
And an around-the-world trip is, in a sense, downhill all the way. Even if you go the other way around.
8500 miles to a pint huh. Well I got 15 miles from a 1/2 pint once. . . Actually, I drank it and my friend had to drive me home.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(hdrygas\";p=\"67679)</div> The trip took weeks longer than planned because of having to tell everyone along the way, "No, I don't need to plug them in."
