Found it on Google when I was researching the car. I've since ordered one, it's due in June, and PriusChat provided a lot of the information that led me to choose the Prius. Thanks!!
Google ---> john1701a ---> here, and a multitude of other sites for more information than I could ever possibly digest! (Thanks, John!)
It was google for me, and the search was for something specific to the car, like prius +smart +key (just an example - I don't remember exactly what feature of the car it really was anymore), and a PC post was among the results. It's the same way I found PO, and John1701a.
From the "other website". As I recall, the "other website", which I used for about a week, wasn't nearly as helpful, positive, quantitative, patient, fun, participatory, amuzing, entertaining, instructive, enlightening, proactive, practical, dependable or useable. So 10 days after using PC and learning about the ins and outs of the car, I bought one. And am still learning. Thanks Danny!
google, typed in "Prius forum" it was at the top of the list. This is a great site, everyone here knows way more than an average Toyota salesman. From common knowledge, to the arcane.... great site, I check for new messages at least 4 times per day.
I found it by googling something like: disable reverse beep Prius, and I came to the page of instructions for disabling the beep!
Gotta love Google. When I was researching Prius, I did a search and it led me here. Now the proud owner of an 05 Tideland BC and just ordered the EV from Coastaletech. Thanks Danny!
I found PC when I was researching whether I could get any custom audio stuff in the Prius. I think it was the XM that caught my eye. I probably used either Vivisimo (I like they way they cluster the results in fact they have a new site called Clusty) or Yahoo since it was built into my toolbar and before I started using Firefox.
Danny -- would you prefer us "old-timers" not vote in the poll? (I.e., been with PriusChat 1 year or more.) I thought it might be directed at figuring out where members have been coming from lately (particularly with the large March influx.)
The poll is mainly directed toward our new members, but the old-timers are more than welcome to vote. How did you find the site, Jeff? You were only a member for a few days when we met in Seattle.
I did a web search the day I was getting my Prius (or was it the day after?) Anyway, I found and joined a Prius Yahoo group and joined them. But they dump all emails into my mailbox and they were seriously annoying me. But one of the emails mentioned PriusChat and they were visiting because PriusChat was down. Odd that that would make me curious enough to check out the website but it did. Liked this site much better and dropped my subscription to the other.
I voted Google but I am not sure it could be John1701a. I did a search and then went through them and booked marked any thing interesting. I then sorted them into categories (personal, user groups, Toyota, government, etc) then went back through all of them. A bit hard to sort out because it was on two different computers sharing bookmarks. I think PriusChat showed up on the original search.
the wife still had her 2k1 Classic and someone at her work place told her about John. I got to looking around his site and found PC. Lurked for about a month then joined back in Jan 2004
First found the 2G Yahoo group on a Yahoo search, then followed it till I ran across a PriusChat reference, just about the time my Seaside came in. Have been here ever since.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Danny\";p=\"74756)</div> I'm fairly certain it was Google -- I don't remember going to many sites initially, beyond Toyota's Prius page and John1701's site (and the latter was for his intro pamphlets, etc.) Y'know, it's hard to remember how I did web searching before Google. I used to have quite a system for tracking down Win32 technical info on the web; and then Google came along, and I just dropped 'em. (And then when Google Groups absorbed Usenet, the assimilation was complete.) Heck, I'm too lazy to use the phone book any longer -- I just Google. What a spud I am. So let me be the first to welcome our page-ranking Google overlords!
I think PriusChat was programmed in my favorites when I installed XP. But I might be mistaken. Actually, when I signed up for my Prius in Feb 04, I Googled and checked out the Yahoo group, GreenHybrd, perhaps somewhere else, and here. Just felt more "at home" with you all. Ah shucks. I'm surprised, though, that for at least people in the Chicagoland area, there aren't two more voting options: [ ] Some crazy blonde guy accosted me / my family because he saw me / us in a Prius. [ ] Some crazy blonde guy stuck a PriusChat business card under my windshield wiper Guilty as charged. :-D
