Is someone who can point me to a thread or tell me how to modify my Prius so that all doors will open when I get within a couple of feet of the car with the proximity key? Thanks.
Not sure if this fits the question, but I found this thread: http://priuschat.com/forums/newbie-forum/44977-unlock-all-doors.html
With the smart key system, the doors only unlock when a hand is inserted into the door handle (or the hatch latch is pressed). The instructions posted for are for which doors will unlock when a hand is inserted in the door handle when the fob is in range. The only thing that happens automatically when the fob comes in range is that the dome lights will turn on; this happens only if they are set to auto.
first: you can not unlock the car via proximity. You must touch; 1 of 3 handles on the car, press a button on your key fob, or use the mechanical key. second: I hope people are not being told that your new prius will lock itself when you walk away. you must either; press 1 of 3 black buttons on the car, press the lock button on your key fob, or use the mechanical key. there is one exception for the alarm, if the dealer has set it to arm after x amount of time. (or you find the code on here) that doesn't lock doors though....
