Soupy Sales was great! But I'm trying to remember, did anything at all ever happen on that show that was not merely an excuse for pie throwing?
Regarding Shari Lewis...She passed away a few years ago from ovarian cancer. But before that, say, about 10-12 years ago, she had a new TV show called Lambchop's playhouse or Lambchop's singalong, or something. My kids loved it. She was still adorable and very youthful. I'm sure plastic surgery was involved, but I think it was more due to her youthful, curious, energetic, creative, and fun spirit. She did magic tricks and very simple crafts, and lots of knock-knock jokes, with some very nice messages for kids tucked in. Sure, I had very fond memories of her from my own childhood, but after seeing her new show I had a new respect for her. (And yes, I can totally imagine little boys having the hots for her.)
With only black & white TV, I wondered how you knew her hair color, till I read that you had lunch with her. A memorable event, to be sure. Note to self: Find DVD's of Shari Lewis' TV show & see about those boobs. Now I see how young I was -- didn't even notice! How about "My Little Margie" -- Now, there was a cutie! Gail Storm, maybe?
Yes, on a New Years' Day, I think, he told kids to go into their parents' bedrooms while they were still sleeping late from last night's New Years Eve -- and to take those pictures of presidents out of their wallets, and to mail them to him -- probably at WPIX-TV in NYC. A lot of the kids did that. The Soupster sure got a pie in his own face for that one.
everyone i think had the hots for either sheri lewis or annette funicello then of course there was what's her name in modesty blaze.....
Disney went against all the stereotypes when he picked Annette Funicello to be the lead Mousketeer. In those days, blondes were all the rage. She was another hottie, that's for sure.
There was also Winky Dink where YOU could save the day with a greese pencil and (hopefully) some plastic laminate!
Does anyone remember the first Songbird? It was a Cessna UC78 Bobcat (Bamboo Bomber). Visit this YouTube Link... YouTube - 1944 Cessna UC-78 Bobcat (Bamboo Bomber) - Fly/In Cruise/In
